As you may know, RuneScape classic has been put in the background as RuneScape 2 has been recieving some major updates. Many players don't even know that RuneScape classic even exists so we would like
to re-introduce this game back to the RuneScape public

Why RuneScape Classic?

RuneScape Classic has become a wanted game to play as many RuneScape 2 players become more interested what the very first version of RuneScape was like. We have decided to make RuneScape Classic more accessible and free to play. Players who could not recently enjoy classic may now enter the game and find out how it really was!

How to get started?

Click the following link if you would like to play RuneScape Classic. http://www.runescape.com/classic/php?=world1

Well the link leads nowhere... You still cannot log into classic without an active account.

Also, the writer has poor syntax and their sentances don't make sense. Smells fake to me.
Dracul
i wouldnt trust it......even though jagex has recetly came out and said that they may send out newsletters every so often to people's emails if they so choose to accept them, the email is too fishy to trust
Darth Irule
Did you give Jagex your email?

I wouldn't trust it either.

Why don't you ask Mark?

Jagex will NEVER ask you for your email. Delete all emails related to Runescape as they might steal your password.

Looks pretty fake to me.

Faked email headers with poorly written text. Although I am subscribed to their emails, so if anything official comes I'll know.

I smell a fake. I think I have subscribed to Jagex emails too and have not got this one.
Lord John
I've said it before, the guy in the message can't even spell. It's more fake than Michael Jackson's nose :S Besides, I have an acc registered to Runescape and I get no emails like that.
unorclan
Didn't they spell receiving wrong? I before E except after C. Yeah, they spelled it wrong. Must be fake.

Strange though, it doesn't seem to try to steal your password in any way....

Also, the address provided at the end of the email is a very old address for Jagex Ltd.

To the person who got this email: be careful because although the link we can see says runescape.com you might well find that the link in the email actually goes somewhere else. Its easy to make the text of a hyperlink say anything you like, so it certainly doesn't have to be the same as the destination the link goes to. If you hold the mouse over the link in the email, you should see at the bottom of your browser where the address actually goes to.

One point I would make is that Jagex now DOES ask for your email address, when you log in the welcome screen (the one with the number of days credit remaining) has a box that either asks if you want to register your email, or says that you already have. This is a mistake really, because they used to be able to say they would only ever contact you via your player inbox, and that would be correct. Since no other person outside of Jagex can send you messages to that box it was fullproof. Now of course they do occasionally send out emails and so phishing emails are a much greater threat.

Jagex does ask for your email, optionally, mostly as a tool for account security. This email, on the other hand, like everyone else has said, is most likely fake.
