Full Version: The MechScape World Not-So-Cold War
MechScape World > Mechscape World > News & Announcements
MC
Hello MechScape World users new and old. You may or may not be aware that MechScape World's second birthday is October 23rd, so to celebrate, we have planned events and other things to celebrate. The main event that you have likely already come into contact with is our MechScape World Not-So-Cold War event (This is not the official title, however.)

Inspired by Pipinowns' forum trend asking users to take up Communism logos and slogans, the event is essentially a war between the ideals of ridiculously over-the-top pro-America/Europe/"Free World" Capitalism and exaggerated Communist ideals, with a few neutral parties trying to fit somewhere in between.

To participate, simply pick a side and post your allegiance in one of the three forums located in the Pipin Missile Crisis section (Found here.) From there, it's up to you to find a way to work with your allies to become the most powerful faction, obviously meaning your theory is flawlessly correct.

The event officially kicks off tomorrow, along with our other birthday events, starting with the nomination of leaders for the Freedom Faction.

Participation is optional, but there's a rumor that one of those esteemed badges may be coming around for those who are involved. blush.gif

Awesome! I can't wait until this oficially begins! This will be fun....

I will urge everyone who reads this topic to join the free world by clicking on the link in my signature! Freedom for the win! Communism for the fail!
Ed5
The Free world offers you nothing! The only thing you get is a piece of cardboard so you can sleep under something at night. Even your veterans that have fought for your so call 'freedom' live in cardboard boxes!
EliteZeon
Eheh... this will be fun indeed.

Controlling a force that can literally turn on a side as it pleases is excruciating, which very well can turn tides to either side in favor.
TechnoBulldog
Oh, here comes EliteZeon with his "Words of Wisdom" or something like that. Let's hear what he has to say...

-Edit-

Posted late, but yes, words of wisdom definitely... I think
Max
I love debates although I haven't been in a political one in some time. I will not be rusty though!

It is very nice to know that we have the mighty Rambow Parrot on our side. We will surely win!

I never trained you fully in my ways. I was smart enough to see you turn upon me so taught you enough so that you may learn more and join back to your proper side. You and I know you want to be in the Free World. You said it yourself but it is for you to decide that you want to become a part of it. Is it a freedom you must wait for?

Ballin, can't wait to whip the commies into shape.

this is too nerdy for me :/

If you're a resident of the United States, you also have a chance to win RuneScape membership cards this weekend.
(I'm sorry, it's not legal for me to send these out to non-US residents. They're only valid in the country purchased, the United States. I do apologize ahead of time for not being able to send them overseas.)

Obviously Communists can participate in such capitalism actions. ;-P

Communism is go!
MC
In case you guys were wondering, tomorrow the official rules to the game will be released and the competition begins. Right now it's basically taunting and spamming, but tomorrow the actual wars begin.
Human
I thought this was for real?
Not some party....
Lord John
I'd have to say, even without the game being released, I'm finding it awesomely fun. GJ PC and other masterminds (Pipin and the Commies ftw)
PoultryChamp
I'll be posting war rules soon (before I leave work today), and then things should really heat up tonight. GMT'ers will get the early bell.

PoultryChamp
It's on! Every post from Friday, 9pm PST til Sunday 9pm PST counts towards points.
Max
I GOT MEGA HITS! :D
PoultryChamp
There are three ways to gain points: Manpower, Knowledge and Wealth

General Rules:
- Each participant must be clearly marked and registered under one team at a time. Failure to do so will result in no points accumulated for that person or that person's team.
- Participants may change teams only twice.
- Participants cannot change teams 12 hours prior to end of the game. However, they can still opt-out.
- Participants may opt out and join the neutral party at any time, but they must surrender any points they've accumulated. If the participant has opted out and joined the neutral team, they may not join another team. However, neutral participants can join a team until 12 hours before the forum game ends.

Knowledge:
- Every hour that PoultryChamp or another Quizzer is awake a question will be posted. Participants of each team can then PM ____ and answer the question. Each team will gain 3 points per correct answer. However, it isn't so simple. For every communist, they will only retain 1 point for themselves - 2 will go to the team. For every freedom team member 1 point will go to the team while they retain 2 points for themselves. Neutral party members will receive 1.5 points individually and 1.5 for the neutral team. The individual with the most points, who is also a resident of the United States, will win a 1-month RuneScape Membership card.
TRIVIA

ManPower:
- This is war. It's about annihilating your opponent. The goal here is to overpower your opponent's forum. Here's how it works:

  1. Communist A posts a topic in The Freedom team's forum, gaining 1 point for their team.
  2. For every consecutive post made in this topic by the Communist Team, the Team also gains another point per post. If a member of Freedom Fighters posts before the topic is locked, this negates one point.
  3. Freedom Fighter C locks the topic, therefore gaining 4 points for his team.

The conflict is that for every 1 point you can score, you give your opponent a chance to score 4 points per topic. Your team can also lose points if the opposite team was to post in your topic while it was still open.

Wealth:
- Plant Flags, grow wealth, buy missiles.
By planting team flags in your own team forum you will work towards being able to use a nuclear missile. For every 50 flags you plant (number them), you may use ONE nuclear missile. By using the nuclear missile in your opponents forum - by creating a new topic and placing the kaboom.gif in the topic - your opponent CANNOT close that topic until 10 minutes have passed. If your opponent closes your topic prematurely, 20 points will be taken from them and transferred to you. We call that radiation poisoning.
Only one nuclear missile may be made by each individual at a time. Team members cannot help eachother to make a missile.

Neutral Party:
Your job is really just to keep an eye out for rule-breakers and people wandering around without a team. You can also keep score.

Removing People From Your Team
If you suspect someone is spying or being detrimental to your team, you have the ability to kick them out. Both teams may kick a person out after a vote which receives 5 or more votes in favor of kicking them out. These people will be stripped of access to the private forum and marked as a Neutral team member. From there, they may join the other team. Their points go with them.
Please keep all votes private. Communists should contact PoultryChamp or MC to have this person stripped of their access rights.

MOST ACTIVE PRIZES
The most active individual in each team - communist or freedom - will receive a 1-month RuneScape Membership card. Most active will be determined by posts made in the forums during such events + mod actions (if applicable). Only US residents.

THESE RULES CAN BE AMENDED AT ANY TIME FOR BALANCE IN THE GAME. PLEASE LOOK AT THESE RULES REGULARLY. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT CHEATERS WILL BE DISQUALIFIED AND FORFEIT ALL POINTS. POINTS WILL BE UPDATED ON A CONTINUOUS BASIS UNTIL WEDNESDAY, THE 28TH, FOR ACCURACY. THE GAME WILL OFFICIALLY END SUNDAY NIGHT AT 9PM PST, BUT TALLYING POINTS MAY TAKE DAYS. AN UNOFFICIAL SCORE CAN BE KEPT BY EACH TEAM, BUT DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE FAST-MOVING GAME, THESE UNOFFICIAL SCORES SHOULD BE CONSIDERED INACCURATE. THANK YOU.

Wait... do we win?
