The people that work in government ARE the people who wish to rule. Government does not shrink. It gives them power. Power they can't get elsewhere. People, even Canadians need to keep it in check or else they will get pissed on.

Well I find Obama less than a tyrant than Bush, after all Obama didn't:

Do a sketchy vote recount.
Declare an illegal war in Iraq.
Lie about WMD's in Iraq to rally support (no evidence at all).
Make a sketchy patriotic story about so called flight 93 heroism even though evidence shows that flight 93 actually blew up mid-air..
Etc.

well, for a few basic pointers, the government has come under the direct influence of large corporations since the 1890's (officially).

I do see ourselves going the way of rome for the most part, It seems to be nature of politics in any political system.

A Country starts out as a despotism, evolves into a monarchy or autocracy, which then evolves into a Democracy or Republic or some combination, which then revolves into either a despotism, or monarchy or autocracy of some kind, hiding behind the curtain of democracy.

Yeah, a media system controlled by your government, I'm sure that's 100% fair and balanced and accurate. Hell, our media system isn't fair, so I guess a government controlled media system is more fair, just like everything else the government controls makes things fair...*rolls eyes*
