Unlikely. It's just expiring a year after they bought it, and they'll renew it again.

but it is still a likely release date

I don't see how the expiration date is significant.

HOLY COW!!! IT'S AN EXPIRATION DATE! IT'S GOING TO COME OUT SOON!!! OH MY GOSH! OH MY GOSH! OH MY GOSH!!!
On the other hand, it could (and probably) mean absolutely nothing (and the above sentence was just be acting like an idiot in ALL CAPS

).
By the way Ren, the above emote is not meant to say you're stupid.

Honestly from the way things seem to be, there is and never will be a true release date. They've got the game finished and everything ready for launch, however are tweaking and tuning it to what they hope to be perfection.
I'm sure one day the team will get together and decide it's worth putting into beta phase, and then once things are set into place they will decide what needs to be changed and altered. I don't think we will ever have a true date set in stone from the way Jagex has been running things recently.

Fiction: They have all set and will release the game on set date they decided on 3 years ago.
Fact: Even Jagex has no idea when they will release the game, they add stuff and fix bugs until they feel it really is done and then decide, "Ok, now we are done, let's release it next week, whatcha say fellas?"

True.
Anyway, I don't see any way how the expiration date of the site is linked to the release date of the game.

I don't see how this means a release date.
We will have to see if they are going to renew it, (They probably are). If they don't Jagex would have all of us wondering what the hell they are doing.

I figured this site was all about speculation...that's my speculation. Also the next Q&A is going to be held in January 2010 which I think might be near the release. I remember they said something about 2009 Q1(correct me if I'm wrong)so maybe it will be released during next year Q1, you never know.

Hmm... an expiration date is obviously indicating that the realease will be soon.
