Full Version: Range/2h v Range Tank?

I've recently made a range pure (55 range) and I'm debating over whether I should convert it into a range/2h or a range tank. You see, range/2h can inflict large amounts of damage whilst they are completely vunerable to your opponents attack. On the other hand, tanks can take the damage yet probably won't be able to get KO's. Let's be reasonable, even if somebody does decide to attack a tank in f2p, would they seriously try and dm you? (They'd probably run or tele, since in f2p only the high level players actually come to their senses and realise it's just a computer game dry.gif

Your help is greatly appreciated. (BTW, sorry if I posted in the wrong section, it's my first post).

Although I haven't tried playing a range/2h pure, I've found that just a range pure pwns the range/2h simply because the rapid attack is much faster than the slow 2h.
I've tried ranger tanks and I don't care for them. They're too slow, and even though they do last longer, I think just a pure is better.
I know you didn't mention it, but range/44pray is awesome for short battles (like duel arena, not so much for pking)

A range pure just by itself didn't occur to me, and true they probably will cause more damage faster however remember that the 2h aspect in range/2her's is usually just used as a KO/combo. Plus would a range pure by itself really last? With no KO's and no defence would it work?

I prefer Pures unless your p2p. In p2p D Bow spec can easily win fights.

Seeing as every pure has a 2h these days, if you had def, they would likely hit 0. You usually whip out the 2h when you are both on low HP so knowing that it is unlikely that they will inflict damage could give you the upper hand.

It's really up to you. Either way, 55 range isn't enough. You have to be able to hit more than they can eat (ie more than 12 in f2p) before you can actually enjoy pk'ing.

I've got a range pure, a range tank, and a range/44 prayer. If you want to practice against them pm me and I'll give you the details and we can set up a time or something. Their levels vary, so you might have to train more just to fight one of them. They're all f2p, btw.

I forgot to mention that in my experience with a ranger tank is that they're not that great at low levels (but not too bad, either). It really depends with tanks.
