From twitter: Bio Studio Director, social gaming!
From LinkedIn: Studio Director at Playfish

Interestingly, Playfish is rumored to have been purchased by EA. http://www.businessinsider.com/rumor-ea-ac...million-2009-10
The article was posted today.

It seems he was offered a very good opportunity.

I'm assuming he was offered this job while working on Mechscape. He wouldn't leave Jagex unless he was offered a better job.

Yeah, I think he definitely got offered more money. Why would you leave Jagex (working on a big game) to work on a bunch of mini games? I think they're mini games confused.gif . Well it would be better if he did leave because of the new offer, than him leaving because he didn't like where Mechscape was going. Oh well, that's something between Henrique and Jagex.

I agree. It would seem strange him to leave working on Mechscape unless he was offered more money. Henrique must also like the making of smaller games rather than fully-fledged MMO's because even if I were offered more money, I probably wouldn't leave Mechscape for something I didn't love.

Description of his new job requirements, or something similar if not same job

It's not just about small games, it seems.

Good for him! I hope he does well.

Playfish is setting up its new San Fransisco development Studio and is looking for a stellar Studio Director to run the product development teams.

I guess that's what caught his eye :p

I actually thought he'd go work at Cryptic Studios. He seems interested in their games enough.

What? WHAT?!

Good god! This is horrible news, horrible news indeed. :( This means... It means... It... Oh dear...

He has abandoned Jagex?!?! blink.gif

This is horrible, horrible...

Interesting. It must just overall be a better opportunity for him to have left MechScape for it - I doubt money had too terribly much to do with it. To me, it also seems the StellarMechaDawn must be functionally complete (like we've been told) and just being balanced. So maybe Henrique was getting bored? Lol, who knows...not the fans, that's for sure.

I had a PM from Mr. Olifiers a couple of weeks ago during discussions of his leaving Jagex. I'm sure he won't mind my repeating this portion of it:

"...I'm sure Mechscape will be a big success, the team behind it is the best I've ever worked with, you can trust they'll do a great job with or without my help. ;)"

It's obvious he left feeling positive about Mechscape.

That's good to know, hopefully he is right.
