THIS IS BRILLIANT!

GameCity and the National Videogame Archive are proud to announce RuneScape: The Director Commentary - taking place at GameCity Squared on Friday 30th, 2.30pm.

Jagex will be making a rare public appearance to give a privileged, unique insight into both the Jagex history and culture - and the development of one of the most successful MMO's of all time.

The event follows the success of Goldeneye: The Director Commentary, held at GameCity Three, and builds on the festival's reputation for delivering utterly brilliant content.

QUOTE
Christoph Vietzke, Head of RuneScape said: "I am looking forward to being a part of GameCity in Nottingham and talking about how we manage to keep our MMO, RuneScape, as successful as it is. As a company that concentrates on making great games rather than advertising campaigns, Jagex stands as example that there is room in the games industry for independent developers. I hope that some of our experiences can help other independent developers to be successful and that’s why I happily accepted the invitation to this great event."

QUOTE
"For a developer of the calibre of Jagex to be taking the time to explore their work with the GameCity audience and the National Videogame Archive is both an index of how far games have travelled as a cultural medium, and the impact that the festival is having. We're incredibly excited that Jagex have chosen to share their insights and inner workings with the GameCity audience", said festival Director Iain Simons.

It's free but it is advisable to book a ticket to avoid disappointment. Anyone going?
Human
Why are they SO happy of JaGex being there confused.gif ?
I mean its cool for them to be happy but this is being TOO happy.
It's as if it's the first time they ever done this with another company....
Crash Jordan
Because Jagex haven't done this before, Human.

I wanna go! :(
Ren
AFAIK this is the first time Jagex has spoken at a free public event. Other times it has been at schools, universities, conventions you have to pay for and industry events you have to pay a lot for.

Not quite covered by my bus pass I think :P

Hopefully youtube will come through for us. Otherwise I'm sure there will be some sort of transcript.
TechnoBulldog
I would go, but I'm stuck in Texas. I don't think I can afford to go, even though the event is free. Oh ow I wish I lived in the UK. Then again, the US is nice too. Still, wish I could come, but I can't.
Ren
It was pretty fun being there - managed to meet Adam Tuckwell and some others at Jagex which was nice. I guess I should upload some videos to YouTube (note: no big MechScape/SD revelations).
Crash Jordan
Uploaddd! Go go go!
Dirk
Did you introduce yourself as head of MSW? tongue.gif

Doesn't matter. Makes Jagex more human when you can show picture of them besides professional ones. :)
Ren
Picture I took:

Are they vampires or something, because I can't see anyone but an RS character.

Or is there something wrong with my sight?
Ren
The first pic is from before they got onto the stage when they just had a random RS slideshow.

who is "Christoph Vietzke"

who is "Christoph Vietzke"

Christoph V is Mod Fetzki, Head of RuneScape.

Christoph V took over as the Head of RuneScape between May and October 2008 after Imre J left and before Vince F got the job, and after this was RuneScape's Content Development Team Leader. Following former Vince's May 2009 departure I thought that Christoph V would be an ideal candidate to replace him based on his experience. The RuneScape credits changed to once again show Christoph as Head of Content on the 21st of May 2009 (source) and he's been Head of RuneScape ever since.

Summary: Jagex has come a long way, RuneScape is awesome and they don't want to reveal too much about their future plans.
Sofee
Great summary. Clap for Ren.

Sounded pretty good, if I lived there I wouldn't have gone tongue.gif

Because saying awesome all the time and nothing else... is AWESOME!

Hm, time to find an upload of this!

Edit: Oh, I'm silly.... Ren has posted some links on page one. :P
Stellar
I stopped watching after the second video. It was all the same crap.

"I love my company. This game is awesome. Runescape runs on crappy computers. Jagex is orgasmic."

It's sounding more like drones. When are we going to hear something new. When are they going to just flat out come and tell us, "So we've been thinking...and the next skill is going to be Sexual Intercourse. We figured the skill would work better in Runescape than as Thirdscape. Remember kids, when in doubt pull it out."
JJ17400
LMAO to above. Thanks for posting the vids Ren, sadly it is all the same info.
Human
I cant waste an hour of my life watching the 1 hour commentary of stuf i already know of.
