Just a little idea that came into my head, well not really a little idea. We have a signature content which is for small graphics but what about those who really want to show off their skills with large panted graphics? I'm talking about a background type size images or print size images. I know that these take a lot more work but what is everyone's opinions on this?
To give an idea I'll show some of my works that I've done that are quite large.

This is a very good idea Max. Either we should have a special pat of the forum for showing these images or be able to upload it as a background on their personal profile.

I second this. I would be more interested in sharing my graphics with the community then.

Well I don't mind setting up a large art contest. Then if we get the subforum for the SOTW I can put the contest in there so it would not be drowned.
So Max if you want to PM me about this or any of you have anything good or bad to say about the idea, Go ahead.
Well, I see two possibilities. Either the SotW expands to AotW (or month or whatever). Or we can have it where there is two parts. I don't want to expand it more then there are people interested but I do feel that larger pieces can depict someones ability to show off a lot better then a signature.
Well perhaps add a poll to this topic. Make the answers similar to this:
Yes I'd like a seperate competion for large art.
I'd like large art intergrated into the SOTW to it will be more of an art contest.
No I think it's a bad idea.
Then create another question would you parcipate?
Yes
Depends - Please state in post
No - Please state why in post
Then we can see if it's worth setting something up and we can also determine what course of action would be the most suitable.
Made a poll, hopefully we will be able to decide from this what we want to do. :)
Depending on how this comes out I'll drop you a PM about this contest.
Also you have to select a theme on the last question. So you should add a I would not participate option.

What? Are you hyjacking my thread?
Only answer the last one if you are willing to participate.Or is it forcing a vote on multiple choice? :/
You have to answer it, it can't be left blank.

I would personally like to see the SOTW take off before making more contests...
What do you mean by take off?
We get quite a few entries. Obviously it boils down to wether people would enter LP art..

Lets do it this way.
IF we were to award points towards a badge which could lead to prizes and the next LP theme was science-fiction. Who would participate?

- A combination of the two.
- 800x600, just perfect.
- I would only participe when I feel like participing.

Me and Max have discussed the combination it seems likley that an LP contest would happen every second week.
Something we also need to clear up is the dimensions.
So how comes you wouldn't partiticipate all the time? Surley you want to get the badge?!

First, what's an LP? Not the vinyl ones, right?
Second, what do you mean with second week? Second week of the month?
Third, depends on my mood!

Large Piece or Picture. I don't think I'll be considering anything below 1024×768 atm because majority of monitor sizes are larger then that. I know that larger then that and it's a different field when you start doing art so that is why I'm doing everything in a two week cycle.
What I mean by that is that I'll start it off with saying what the contest is. Then I'll give 2 weeks for the completion. After those two weeks we will then start voting on it and I'll give another topic for those who want to get a head start. The next contest due date will be then 2 weeks after the voting is wrapped up. I want these pieces to have a lot of time and effort into it so I'm going to give extra time for it. As a result the possibility of wining more points for it towards a badge is right around the corner.
This will most likely begin right after October.

Good to see this starting, Looking forward to the submissions!
Decided upon the first theme yet Max?
I'd also suggest starting it on a Saturday rather than a Monday, But that's just my opinon.

Yeh, Saturdays are usually better to do things on then Mondays.

I'm a novice at all this stuff, but I'll give it a go :)

I'd be happy to help with competitions, perhaps the large art competition could be like a worm or something? Where everyone makes a piece at a certain size and it has to blend in with the previous piece? :D

Well, we have the Community Quilt. You can make a 150x150 square on that with whatever you want, and everybody's is added.
But worms sound cooler than blocks.

Hmm... how could do a competition where each piece has to blend into the last?

Large art is for images larger then 150x150. Worms would better support it but I'm not too sure about in a competitive sense.

Hmm perhaps not a worm for a competition, although there could be voting on the best worm piece after it's finished :P. Although I'm starting to enjoy the sound of making a worm. Would that be something I should set up? I'm still willing to help out with other competitions. I'll try and think up some fresh ideas :).
