Full Version: player market stalls
MechScape World > Jagex > RuneScape General
Dracul
I'll try to keep this short and sweet, but i think one of the best updates jagex could do, and which is something they mentioned a couple years ago is player owned businesses.

But really, we all know how the GE and the trade limits has virtually ruined the rs economy, but waht if there was a way that players could still good money from player-to-player trading.

My solution is to allow players to setup their own market stalls, such as fur stalls or gem stalls, players can load up their products onto their stalls, and the stall owners can set the price for their items.

I think its a fairly good solution

But then all the good spots would be taken in an instant. I say its a good idea, but there should be some sort of "Search Desk" where you could search the item you want to buy, and then it would match you up with a list, best prices at the top, worst at the bottom. Then it would take you to this little stall (sort of like a POH), so you could see all the items and the item you want on sale. I just made this up as I went along. =P

Woah, since when did you have 1k posts? Didn't notice...

They've said it's not technically possible, and they like to think the GE is sort of close to this.
Darth Irule
I have asked for this many many times. I don't think this is going to happen.
Pliigi
It's in interesting idea, but I think the Grand Exchange kind of nerfed it. If Jagex decides to have an artificial economy in MechScape I doubt this would work, but if it's a completely player-driven economy it would probably work.
HeartFlame
It might be sort of good because the items for sale wouldn't be exclusive for just one person (so it would make it slightly harder for one to RWT with another). Maybe if the item were put up there with the stated price but wasn't available for trade for a period of time. Although, an auction system where you have a time limit and can bid on things might be better for getting the price you want and for preventing RWT (might have to have an NPC to manage the stall who regularly calls out the items and the prices so that everyone knows, and the stalls should only have the ability to be placed in high traffic areas).

but then you'd be like "ooh, this one is cheap! *click* 'already bought!'" and you`d just rage all day because everyhthing would be being bought/sold so fast. i like the ge, i just have price manipulators.
SkyArmada
If they did this, what's stopping you from trying to sell a bucket for 100M? Then the RWT company would buy the bucket from you for that much.

The G.E. Does a good enough job as it is.
Bladepaul
Right. 100 mill bucket. so obvious.
Dracul
well....thats the beauty in a free market, the right to be scammed and the right to suffer from your own stupidity for falling for the scam.

But it should be up to the producer and consumer to determine the prices of an item.
SkyArmada
Dracul, you missed my point entirely.

Person A buys 100M from a RWT company. To get the 100M, Person A puts a bucket up for grabs at 100M (Because they can set their own prices, like you want). RWT company pays the 100M for the bucket.

And BladePaul, I know it's obvious. I'm just trying to post an example of why the limits exists in the first place.

Dracul
meh, i know jagex cares about money and all but other companies don't care so much about rwt so why does jagex?

I'm all for unbridaled free trade in a game
SkyArmada
Did you bother reading the dev diary they did about it? It explains it pretty well.
Alex
This is utterly pointless. With the GE, there's no need for a wholesale trading solution and if you want to trade with mates then set up a meeting.

If they allowed you to set your prices, this would cause RWT, and regardless of your views this isn't something that's going to happen. If it does, then Jagex will take min and max prices from the GE first and then we can talk about this, but until then this is out of the question.
Human
You setting a price for an item would make RWT happen.

I can set the price of an egg 30 mil which i know no one will buy but i know the Rwters would so i get 30 mil!

This would be worse than the G.E.

Why not just has the g/e without limits rather than stalls?
Not saying its a good idea but whats the point in having a stall?
TehBigGun
They have this in Puzzle Pirates.
It's pretty cool.

RWT..?

I've lingered around these forums for a while before I actually made an account. But Drac, free trade is DEAD get used to it. I've seen you complaining about the trade limits and giving ideas to not use trade limits. Jagex stated that the trade limits aren't going away. So it's pointless to make threads like this.
