I think Stellar Dawn a.k.a Mechscape graphics will be alike this game however more smoother than this. I have this speculation because the graphics of this game [armored legion] are better than Runescape hd and i dont expect java to work better than anything like this in the picture below. Anyways it wud be 'awsome' if the graphics are better than this.

Here is also this game called Xblaster and if jagex has the impressive shine like they have in this image it would be totally asome since we havent seen any reflection or shine effects yet in Runescape.
And this is what I think would be perfect as a mixture of above two images.
Let you ideas pop in and what do you expect from Jagex to give us as compared to this images? And OMG the Stellar Dawn logo resembles so much with the X in Xblaster

. I hope the graphics match aswell.
On the other hand I visited mechscape.com a moment ago and was getting this message:QUOTE

Quite Spicy, anyone else getting it or isit only me.. does this means mechscape is coming next week :O? or maybe a splash screen or something?
Cant wait for it to be true... xxxiting!!

The graphics quality is NOT a limitation of java. Java engines can be made compatible with graphics libraries such as DirectX and OpenGL.
And i hope to god that mechscape is nothing like the 1st image.. that looks like a game duct taped together overnight. Even I an do better than that

Jagexs technology is capable of modern game graphics, but don't expect it.

I don't know if you played Xblaster but it had terrible graphics, nothing similar to the pictures.
I'm not a fan of the first picture's textures. They look really sloppy.

hah very nice... so those xblaster pictures are "pre-rendered" screen grabs huh?
I was going to say...

Yes! They keep their graphics crappy so everyone can play.

Haha.. its other name could be 'Armies of Mechscape' and they could place it on funorb
anyways the third image was impressive :p
Imagine as if it was a screenshot taken from mechscape... when you are having PvP fight with another mech...

Well, if we get close up graphics that resemble the Xblaster picture, except closer up, and slightly better... That'd be nice.

I expect the graphics to be a bit better than Runescape HD, but not much better. Honestly, I would consider the actual game-play more important than the graphics.

I actually tried out that Armored Legion game... Not bad, for a low-poly ShockWave game. Not bad, by any means.

We already know that Jagex used the Mechscape graphics engine to update RS with it's High Definition capabilities. So we know that Mechscape is a few stages more advanced than RS when it comes to graphics. I truly believe this game is going revolutionary and is going to blow our minds away.

I agree with Neven. If Jagex were making a new experience from Runescape they would have to modify like crazy. If the graphics will be like Runescape, it won't be that popular. People are now bored with Runescape's graphics, they want something fresh.

Well actually Mooncry, the whole rejuvenation process for Jagex to get members back to playing RS was in fact the huge graphics update we received way back when. It IS true that RS players are getting bored of the NEW graphics already, but when MS is out, look for a huge migration to MS simply due to the more advanced graphics.

The X- Blaster screens there are pre-rendered.
I wouldn't expect near as many polygons as the first image, but I expect it to look a lot more polished.

I'd expect better graphics, but what I'm really looking forward to graphic's wise is actually having a sky, being able to move the camera in way similar to WoW's camera, and maybe even a first-person view option when using weapons. Hopefully Jagex won't give us the same style of view as in Runescape.

Well I think we can be relatively sure that skyboxes will make there way to "Mechscape" and Runescape, so perhaps a more free camera will be more practical when there is actual things to see in the distance.

As they said sumwhere in an interview..

Players can expect to see an extremely different looking game to RuneScape.
Hmm.. we can expect less gloominess as in runescape and maybe more dynamic shadows... as the characters will be much larger than in runescape... However i dont expect low polygon count.. as they wud want more and more people to be compatible to play it...

To be honest I'm not looking for good graphics. I am looking for a good game. All those textures and stuff make no difference to be honest while a storyline does. I jusr want antilagg stuff that doesn't stall every two seconds like rs HD can. I don;t mind having basic colour block textures as long as the character chapes are normal and don't look square. To be honest in the video clip they achieved runescape SD two years ago so runescape HD level and beyond are already well in reach. Providing they saved their textures they can re-apply them to the new version.
