MechScape World > MechScape / Stellar Dawn > MechScape / Stellar Dawn Confirmed News

"Your role will primarily be to build creatures, shape virtual worlds, design quests and storylines for our new, undisclosed game."

Jagex have once again asked for content developers who have a general Anime/sci-fi/graphic novel interest and who who have previous experience writing RPG storylines to work on a "new, undisclosed, game".

A lot of anime, sci-fi and graphic novels deal with futuristic settings, robots, mechs and suchlike. I reckon that they are recruiting for MechScape content developers.

Thanks for the news Ben! it seems that they are not doing a good job and keeping this game secrete.

Some great news - but it's also sort of depressing, shouldn't they be finishing it up already, not still hiring people?
Ren
They still hire new RuneScape people even though that has been released, so there is only so much we can read into it beyond "they haven't abandoned MechScape".

Jagex are no longer advertising for their Programming Consultant role: "Working closely with our Technology team and top level management, you will be responsible for the optimization of critical sections of our graphics engine. You will take ownership of this challenging role, and master a solution within a pre-determined timeframe. You must be passionate about programming, highly motivated and experienced in games engine programming to undertake this role." (source) - however, I think that was mostly for FunOrb, as it wanted people with "Strong programming experience, specifically in areas such as 16 bit platforms and embedded devices;".

To work for Jagex you'd have to sign a Non-disclosure Agreement saying you can't reveal Jagex secrets.
SupaKilla
Other than being kicked out of the jagex team and a probable ip ban what else would happen if you revealed secrets?

They were messing around. Read my post and fant's post.
If you were to be on the team and reveal anything this is what will probably happen:
Me:Other than being kicked out of the jagex team and a probable ip ban what else would happen if you revealed secrets?
Fant:A lawsuit.
Ren
Think about it this way: What employer would want to hire someone who was previously fired for disclosing company secrets? You'd effectively make yourself unemployable. Of course you wouldn't get fired if they couldn't trace it back to you.

You beat me to adding it onto the jagex wikipedia page.

I remember seeing that job description on their old site quite a while back now. Does that mean they had previously taken it off and have just now put it back up, or has it always been there?

They've been recruiting with that job description on and off for a while now.

They advertised for six sci-fi content developers in June 2006 (source) and 3 in February 2007 (source). The pay advertised went from £18-22k in 2006 to £19-22k in 2008.

Then they wasted alot of money/time on concept art/models, registering websites, and logos.

I can't wait for MechScape to come out hopefully its good.

Ok, first off, this is for Jagex... Not for Mechscape World. Secondly, do you really think that your parents are going to fly you to Cambridge, UK? Also, a content developer doesn't make graphics, they make the quests and program the game. Also, it isn't a volunteer job. Also, if you are a good graphics artist, why is your avatar copied graphics from Runescape?
Steel knight
dang 1 more year in skwl left then the maybe i can try apply it im still learning animating and stuff at skwl

Eh... once you are 16, I'm afraid that you are going to have to wait two more years. Applicants must be over the age of 18 and be able to work in the United Kingdom.

given the amount of info leaked, and the trouble they have gone to covering it up, its one heck of a bluff if thats the case. besides with funorb coming along it doesnt work. a fantasy mmo, a sci-fi mmo, and a mini-games mmo product seems like they have everything covered. about the only thing they haven't given signs of doing is setting up a social networking site! biggrin.gif

I am pretty sure everything he knows about it , all of us know which isnt that much.
Just have a little patient and wait until the game comes out, or until Jagex let out
more info on it. The good side you can still give your thoughts on how its going
to look, just go around the forums and you can find something.

I found a very interesting comment on rs forums by Marcusorion2 (Forum mod):

There is no official Jagex website for this rumored game - yet

The word yet is giving us a hint of what is going to come... isn't it? :P

The comment can be found on the mechscape topic on Rs forums.
Ren
Marcus is just a forum mod so he'd know nothing one way or the other.
Arain
jeez nice job keeping mechscape a secret jagex...
Dark Seeker
anybody know if it will still be like runescape? (you know, leveling up and quest...
Ren
Jagex knows, but they ain't telling.

Jagex's Oscar G said he has "been trying to find ways that we can take the genre forward in terms of story telling and player grouping, while also developing cool missions and minigames". From this it can be assumed that it will be missions instead of quests and not be exactly the same as RuneScape.

No one has a clue, but its almost definetly this year. I think in another few months.
firedylan
is this websight orchestrated by jagex?
Ren
RuneScape.com, FunOrb.com and Jagex.com are owned and operated by Jagex.

MechScape.com is owned by Jagex but is currently unused.

MechScapeWorld.com is not owned by Jagex, and is in no way affiliated with Jagex. You are therefore not allowed to direct people to this website from the RuneScape or FunOrb forum as Jagex consider it a third-party website.

Hope this game will be released soon...Ahh well..Patience is a virtue.

Yeah I remeber reading that a while ago.

its kind of depressing though, were't jagex supposed to be finishing off mechscape? not still hiring people?

Jagex are still hiring people for RuneScape and FunOrb too. They have money, they have staff turnover, they hire more people, they get things done faster and so they make more money.
frostguy
they make millions and they still hire people

I cant wait for mechscape too! Is it offensive to speak about it in rs off topic forum? This site rocks tho! banana.gif
