For all intents and purposes the game is done. It's finished, in testing, and working. But we're in testing and going, "What if we change this..." I suppose we're so excited about what the end result can be that we're tolerating all these changes in 11th hour so to speak. There's nothing really arbitrary, it's all things we think will really help gameplay or make it more fun. I do expect it to be released in 2009, but it's hard to guarantee these as I'm sure you know. The Studio is however doing a fantastic job and working tirelessly to get the game awesome and ready for Beta.

Yes we know they have said that, but they also have said other things. ;-)

This is from May. I wouldn't really put much store in any estimates until Jagex gives us an actual release date date. Originally, MechScape was planned for 2007, then 2008, then 2009. Now it looks like it will be released in early 2010.

After Olifiers leaving I doubt we get the game within a year.

"In terms of when it’s ready…, the version in the office is now pretty much feature complete, it’s fully playable and is due to enter the final internal testing and polishing shortly, which is massive milestone for us. How long the testing takes depends on how much we decide we still want to improve, it could be a little while longer because we’re not going to rush it, and aren’t going to launch it until it’s awesome."

It's still set for 09, I think. They haven't really said otherwise, I think in the Eurogamer interview it was just the interviewer speculating when it will be out. Hopefully it as just speculation and we get it this year. I still expect it in 09, until Jagex says otherwise.

Well you have to remember guys that Mechscape is pretty much done and playable, Olifiers did his part. The game is being tested now and polished...greatly polished is what it seems like to me. However, whoever is taking Henrique's position will start adding content once the game is released, and you never know, he might want to please us quickly and give us the Beta ASAP.

Hopefully the new head of mechscape will want to get a public beta released ASAP.

I thought the news post from RuneScape front page today was interesting:

You might notice a small new feature has been added to the Friends List (the ability to move the line separating players’ names and online status). This feature is associated with the Display Names update, which we’re hoping to release later this year.
The Display Names update is due to MechScape, so this leads me to believe the release may still be before the end of the year. Am I wrong?

As of now I'm hoping for a 2010 release since I will be diving headfirst into Gran Turismo 5 once it comes out, and I only plan on taking a break from it to go to class or sleep.

Where did they say this? Can you find a link?

I'll get on it. One of the interviews I read.

The name changing will come before the release of another game imo, would be a lot easier to fix the inevitable bugs for the current games they have then they can simply add Stellar Dawn into the system.
On another thread someone mentioned that the last change to the billing system pre-dated funorb's release by around 3 months. If that is the case then I think that sounds a reasonable timescale.
3 months takes us to christmas day and the holidays, so I am going to guess that early next year when everyone is back at work is when we will finally see Stellar Dawn

The billing system redesign is a decidedly big step away from the RS-themed brown hues (although it has some formatting issues from my brief explorations) - I don't think 3 months is a reliable figure but - alas, a lack! We have nothing else to go on, and it sounds reasonable.

Well, things are certainly moving into place, that's for sure. Jagex updates the billing system before releasing any new games, or so it seems, so we're closer now than ever before.

That HAS to be true! Haha, I'm surprised Jagex haven't used that one themselves...thats a great line :-)
Impatient gamer: When is the game coming out?
Mod MMG: well I can't tell you that, but I can say that we're closer now than ever before...
