What if the whole idea of 'Mechscape' is just a red herring to fool us? What if Jagex want their new game to be a complete suprise so they made a whole back story, AKA Mechscape. Just an idea. :P

I doubt they'd harm their credibility by lying to gaming reports as they'd need their backing to promote whatever game came out eventually, and the same argument could be made about misleading the community. I see no reason why they'd need to invent a non-existent game as a red herring instead of just pretending there was no game (as they basically did with MechScape on RSOF until Gerhard came along).

Well it's always a possibility ;) What if Jagex decide to cut the game for some reason? I've heard about it happening to a lot of games where the devlopers end up scrapping it all despite having worked on it for ages if they don't see it as profitable.

I don't believe all that though, and I am confident Jagex will release MS, but it would be rather funny if we'd all been tricked ;)

1. I would literally ROFL, while being shocked.

2. Then I would facepalm.

3. Then I would be mad and keep asking myself how stupid I was.

4. After that I would cry.

5. Then the game would be released, and I would check it out, and repeat stage 1-4.

I don't think that's what's going on, but even if it is, their new MMO would be great too. Then we would have to do a lot of name changing, but I think we'd be prepared.

But that's if that was what was happening, and it isn't.

Perhaps Jagex is postponing the release of codename "Mechscape" so that they can wait for April Fools to arrive and screw us all over.

Damn, I hope not. I was kind of thinking they'd give it to us near Christmas as an early present to play witht through the holidays
I'm pretty sure there is a MechScape. Jagex wouldn't pull an immense prank on all of us, that could be very risky.

the scary thing about what you say is that Jagex might actually do it.

Come to think of it, April 1st does lie at the beginning of the second quarter (the first quarter of 09 was when it was supposed to originally be released.)

If Jagex actually did that, they'd probably either

A. Go out of business, because nobody likes being lied to.
B. Become the target of a international nuclear strike.
C. Die painfully in Evil Dave's basement of DOOM.
