There are rumours that the PMods and FMods would get a chance to play the closed beta of MechScape before its release to the rest of the players...so just wanted to confirm is this true?
Answer:
maybe at some point...but I'm not going to say anything about MechScape tonight, I'm afraid - sorry.

Does it really surprise you? They won't really get anything out of it and it'll be leaked anyway.

It's more the fact that if they did that, we'd wait even longer to play it. At this point all this hype better match up to what we want otherwise there's gonna be a lot of people who dislike Jagex in the end.

We're creating our own hype. So that's not really Jagex's fault. What pisses me off is that they promise mods don't get any advantage. Why should they get to play the game earlier than everyone else?

Because they volunteer to keep the game safe from rule breakers, so they should have some kind of gift once in awhile.

Sep 17 2009, 09:27 PM
Mainly because they have a closer bond with Jagex...
There are fewer Mods than Free Players and Members, so a close beta with more limited server space will have less people fighting over spots.
For the first round of finding bugs, fixing them, then allowing a more open beta to include members...
Oh and yes, because they are volunteers, and take shit from players everyday without any actual benefits other than a crown that gets unwanted attention and bombardment of blasphemous questions. So yes, this is also a form of "payment".

Yeah but part has to be from them, I mean with the releasing details, concept art, etc. Giving mods an advantage is a bit unfair, as the chances of any or rather, most of us being mods is slim to none. I only know 2 mods, both of which have admitted that the amount of mods compared to players is around 1:1500.

This is fine with me as long as they release the website for everyone with a game-manual, I'd like to know some of the back-story and how the game works before playing it. :)

Then what about those of us that have been playing since 2004 or before? Does loyalty mean nothing to them other than saving .95 cents a month membership fee? We already lost our RSC item they were planning.

Yes but they will have the closed BETA for the Mods, then another one for the 'loyal' members, which I don't think means have been playing since 2004, I think they're more interested in those who have been paying them with membership for a few months.

Least those who pay actually get to play beta.
I've been playing for 5+ years, entirely F2P (with about 2-3 months of members in total)... I don't mind the exclusive closed betas what-so-ever, specially since all betas come with a type of reset. Just will let me read on what I should do when I actually get to play the actual game when they release it for me and others that can't join beta.

look stop complaining over who gets to get into the beta. Who cares if you can't play the beta, the important thing is, is that the players get as much effing information as they can and show what they've got to the communities

I don't see why. What do you expect? Honestly, anyone who is surprised is ignorant. This is the equivalent of other companies getting closed beta testers... however, let's hope that these mods DO NOT SAY EVERYTHING IS FINE. Else we'll end up with a crappy game.
Closed beta =

There is 0.5% hype. Anything else is just made by people going "what if"

I don't really care if they do or not. It will help to iron out all of the bugs that could still be there. I'm just really hoping that there is an RS PMOD/FMOD on these forums who can post pics.

It was bound to happen anyway. Loyal and good players who follow the rules should be given the chance to play the game before random players who simply pay the game and play it and occasionally break a rule or two. I am a former Player Moderator and I wouldn't have been excited if I was given the chance, if Jagex already spoke of giving me a chance to play. I would have played it, leaked everything that I could of course, and then given a review on it.

I don't really see what the fuss is about, I don't mind that some get to test and others don't, its almost the exact same in any other game.
Even when there is a members beta (which I think there will be), it would still leave out the f2p community, so why is this any different?

I think that it is fair that player mods get a chanse to "test" the game before everyone else and i also think thats a bit good, because there is always gona be someone to leak everything, and if they close beta test it, it means the game is coming soon anyways.
What i do hope is that p-mods do not become p-mods in mechscape/stellardawn:
I don't know if this was confirmed somewhere but since primary goal of p-mods now is to organise events and stuff, i don't see how someone who is really good at organising events in RS be any good to mechscape. you can't play both mechscape and runescape at a good level to be able to organise good events in both games.
and you have to consider that it's not even confirmed yet: mod kelvin only said it might happen and with henrique gone who knows whats going to happen.

As with in game languages, I believe the official MechScape site will be up the night before it is actually announced, and MEMBERS and PLAYER MODS can play at that time.
The player mods ask for the opinions of Player Mods for RuneScape, while inside the surgery room (has nothing to do with surgery). I have no idea if they talk about MechScape or not, but I assume they would.
I also think the P Mods would have been told about the sites opening, too.

Starting out with player mods would make sense, it lets Jagex find some of the more major problems before letting in everyone else. Starting out with thousands upon thousands of beta testers all finding the same 5 glitches would just be a waste of everyones time. After they take care of the more obvious problems (not working on certain computers, major glitches, etc) they could open it up to more people. But thats just my opinion, I guess Jagex hasn't decided what to do yet. I just want to see what the game looks like =p

I know a few pmods in actual reality but FUCK this would be a stab in the back again to me. Screw if I learned anything, I just got screwed from a great opportunity once again. Maybe I'm going to start playing RS again just to try and get pmod again. Of course because I'm a know member that has a trick position of this community it will no doubt effect my ability of getting on the team. (Because I'm likely to share this information and they can access what I've said.)

Yeh, Isn't there some thread now to like post an 'application' as such?
It's always worth adding on. Got any blackmarks?
I hope that I can play MS long enough to become a PMod or whatever they have in the game.
I belive we have a few PMods on these forums anyways, So we'll definitley see some leaks...

Being a moderator has NOTHING to do with how they should get a gift because they help the community and such. What pisses me off is that this is COMPLETELY unfair. I know so many people that help the community and they tell other runescapers not to swear but they are not forum/player moderators.
I think JaGeX should just keep it the way it was before, (All RS and FO members get the beta)...
Anyone agree with me?
Man I was planning to make a video when mechscape comes out so I can get lots of subbers on youtube, but now this just KILLED IT!

I doubt that they're excluding premium accounts from getting into the beta, but pmods and fmods will just get in earlier. It's a bit of compensation for their services.
