I was shown this video by a friend who plays Runescape. I found it rather funny because I noticed that there were tones of these videos. It made me think; Jagex really have been getting some bad press lately. In the past few months, every update released has had massive bugs which makes you really wonder how effective their testers really are.

This isn't a bug, it's an oversight, and a bad one.

Unlike all other weapons there is a delay between when the cannon is fired and when combat is initiated.

That makes me sooo mad watching those guys. That is why I hate runescape and it's PVP system, because there are a bunch of jerks who will desrtoy your account, loosing your void/bandos/ags just so they can laugh, that guy only got 1 drop the whole time.

But is it his fault? Or is it's Jagex's fault for giving them a chance to bug abuse by putting out faulty equipment?

Well it's no one's fault really, Jagex can't help the fact that they suck.

Never did like PvP in RS. WAY too unbalanced... along with all the little ass hats that go with it.

This glitch was fixed so I'm not sure what you mean by balancing. The Dwarf Cannon isn't meant to operate as it does in that video. I do agree though that being able to one - two hit people with a lot of the weapons is utterly stupid. I remember the days when hitting 30 was like "hax, that was awesome" whereas now it's like "I can hit 72 with one swing of my Godsword".

Dropped around 800m worth of guys that rush with Dlcaws and can't even PK, don't care if I get banned.

You make me laugh, you do know there will always be bugs in a game, right? It's so hard to get everything working properly, and that goes for every company and every game. So much that they have to look at and make sure it doesn't malfunction with it.

Seems Mod Ash got owned by having to get up at 3 am :P

MadMech, your right. There will always be bugs in game and it's an enormous task to remove them all. It seems though that the bugs been found lately are rather major ones which shouldn't have passed under Jagex's Radar. Look at Mobilising Armies. When it was released you couldn't even play the game and some game types didn't work. Now to me, the key thing to make sure you do when releasing a minigame is to make it playable.

It is great though that Jagex fixed it only 11 hours after it's release instead of letting it go on until morning.

Then why should the abuser get permanently banned?

Because they know it's a glitch and still abuse it. People aren't banned for small graphical glitches, they're banned for things such as this or this.

This is why I don't like the PvP community. They all talk about skill and honour but it seems like every PKer is just out there to get a fast buck at the expense of everyone else. If you find something like this, have some empathy for the victims.

I truly, honestly hope that EVERY single one of those jerks who abused this bug gets banned and all their other accounts as well. The community doesn't need filth like that.

I cant help the fact that the guy *I* sucks, and that the MSW community sucks 2. GL trying to make your own game with C++ and java.

I didn't say he should. His crime is taking advantage of a glitch that was only there because of Jagex. Jagex could have prevented it if they had done enough QA.

What are you guys, idiots? There's absolutely NO way in hell that Jagex will catch EVERY single bug in the game. Just understand that. They're not doing a lazy job. The game is getting bigger and bigger, they can't test EVERYTHING. That would be impossible. Would you rather wait a year 'til the QA has processed it and ruled out every possible bug?

Fact is, players shouldn't take advantage of bugs. Especially these types of bugs.

Lol at people defending a for profit company and multiple QA testers who are paid decent moneh to do their job. You know they're paid to try to break the game/find the bugs, if some kids can see that there's an opportunity for abuse then why did'nt these guys? This isn't the first time. The only other company that I've seen mess up with serious glitches online was Nexon with Mabinogi and everyone knows the Nexon of America branch is full of incompetents. Anyone know any other P2P that's messed up this bad? (Mabinogi's Cash shop by the way).

Bugs are always going to get through, you try finding all the bugs possible with one item that can be used with with tons of different items, it will be tons of bugs, and you won't be able to find all of them. They're human, not a robot that can do everything in a matter of minutes, and stuff is bound to get pass them. A lot of other games have glitches, just because you haven't seen them doesn't mean that they're not there.

That video was certainly entertaining. It's a shame that people are willing to get their lvl130+ accounts get banned without any second thoughts.

That's why I pk in f2p. Its just more relaxing. You don't have to worry about dying because you lagged for a tenth of a second. When I want something fast paced I fight in a clan war.

Runescape isn't built for fast pased combat. There are other games for that.

What's with all the flaming? Argueing over Runescape sure isn't a sign of maturity. You don't have to attack everyone's oppinion because you think they are wrong.

Anyway, I did find the video funny but can see that a lot of people would be rather upset about it.
I'd have to say RS is getting more fast paced when every weapon hits over 50 allowing you to be two hit with ease.

While I believe in not abusing a bug you have to realize an inherent risk when playing any game. No doubt people make mistake and a big is pretty much always going to fall through into the live game. You have a small QA team trying to find bugs versus millions of player whom could find a bug by accident or some could even do it through looking for them. Just think of an MMO as a game that is still in development because it is.

And as for glitches, some exist since the beginning of the game. I wish people would stop winning about ones that Jagex fixed within 24 hours.

That won't be necessary considering Jagex has ways of finding out who's been glitch abusing and he even admits near the end of the video that he will get banned. And if not those several thousand people just watched him break the rules, someone, somewhere must have brought it up to Jagex's attention.

And for the record, Jagex aren't lazy at all when it comes to QA. If anything, they've picked up their game, all the recent updates have been bug filled, they are trying to change this.

The abuser had countless friends with him who likely won't be banned. Remember, if you don't want to get banned, Bug abuse in a large group. Remember the PvP glitch? Almost no one was banned except the main offenders.

I remember reading the chaos on RSC as tones of high levels said "Gf RS" thinking they'd get banned. They bought out all the rares they could so the game would be utterly screwed if they were banned. Seems their trick worked.

Anyway, stuff like, "LOL AT PEOPLE DEFENDING JAGEX" etc. Wtf! They already said: with a game engine this big for RuneScape, they cant test EVERYTHING. Sometimes, a glitch comes trough the system. And then fixed in max 24 hours.

Well they aren't going to have a Beta for every subsequent update. Sure there are usually smal graphical glitches and such but hopefully there will be none that cause massive destruction like this one or 6/6/06.

Anyway DjIceman, if you want to continue debating without the flames, my point is that Jagex is at fault for allowing bugs to get through when prevention is possible.

And my point is, that getting every SINGLE possible bug out of the game is wasting resources, time and money.

Players shouldn't be such ass faces and always abuse bugs when they can.

Alright, now I think we're getting some where. I think it wastes more time and money redoing an update. They have to recode it, re-QA it, have a mod discuss it on the forums, ect. You also got to figure that with every major bug, the people who were affected quit, which means less income.

If they did it right the first time, there would be no potential for players to be such "ass faces."

Actually no, a bug such as that may only take 10 minutes to fix. In such cases, not much QA goes into it. Perhaps the bug-fixer himself trying to see if it works.

There are always potential ass faces looking to abuse a bug. It's not their fault that such human filth was born to this world.

If they tested the updates for bugs more frequently before release then release dates would take longer.

I personally don't mind a bug or two, i usually don't play updates as soon as it comes out just in case. But still, then people whine about there not being an update. RS players are hypocritical. They complain and say WHERES THE UPDATE if they continue to de-bug it, and if it comes with bugs they say OMFG I LOST 509876 BILL!!! (when they lost probably nothing).

While they shouldnt release updates with bugs, your acting like they KNOW that a bug exists. They will not relase it saying ok if someone does this they can attack anywhere. But i doubt anyone will figure that out!!
