I loaded the RuneScape client (With new RuneTek 5 engine) in game1 mode. For those who don't know the basic client that runs RuneScape appears to be shared by Stellar Dawn and you can load it in either RuneScape mode or Stellar Dawn mode by modifiying some application parameters.
I thought it was interesting that once I was in RuneScape with the client set to Stellar Dawn mode that instead of displaying "Player (level: 12)" it says "Player (rating: 12)".
There is also an extra option when right clicking on the ground. Usually there is just "Walk here" but Stellar Dawn mode adds a "Face here" option which does not appear to work on the RuneScape servers.
One last, pretty inconsequential thing, is that the client does not display any information in the top left corner in Stellar Dawn mode. Where it might usually say "Walk here/ 5 more options" there is nothing.
Take from this what you will. I just thought it was somewhat interesting. I haven't found any other differences in Stellar Dawn mode but if I do I will update this post.
If you want to see this for yourself download this:
Stellar Dawn Mode Activator
To use:
1. Unzip the contents somewhere.
2. Execute the "Run.bat" file included.
3. Type a valid world number into the console window that appears.
MAKE SURE YOU READ THE NOTICES DISPLAYED WHEN THE APPLICATION IS RUN BEFORE CONTINUING
WARNING: THERE IS A SMALL CHANCE THAT ANY ACCOUNTS THAT USE THIS WILL BE BANNED
IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR ACCOUNTS USE A THROWAWAY ACCOUNT TO USE THIS!
Now pictures:
Just to show that the client is in Stellar Dawn mode:

"Face here" (Notice how there is no options text in the top left corner in the next two images):

The context menu displays a players "rating" instead of level as normal:

What's odd is that the client cannot run in either modes (if you run the runescape.jar on your computer) and this is because the client is able to detect if it's running from the official RuneScape/Jagex website(s) - if it's not being used on any of the Jagex websites, it will NOT work unless if you properly changed the actual client code inside of a specific class file in the JAR file.
So either you did something completely different (which I doubt), or you took your time to change the client's code. In that case, that is no good because we are NOT a cheating community.

You simply need to run the client with all the correct parameters. By all I mean more than just worldid, live/wip/rc, language and game0/1. If you look at how the applet is embedded on the website you'll see there's a load more parameters it requires. If you run the client with all of these it will work.
It should be said that I did write a separate Java application to launch the client with these required parameters but the actual client code itself remains unchanged.

Alright, yes that does make sense. Just be careful though, because even then we still don't know what Jagex's stance is on this type of information.

I'd really like to believe all this, but I'm kind of doubtful about all this.
Especially since Andrew, in his Q&A said, that Stellar Dawn does not share the RuneTek engine, but instead is programmed directly in
java.
So if that's true, why would they put all of the (picture proof-lacking) features in the OP into the RS client?

You misunderstood his answer. FunOrb games are written using only Java. Stellar Dawn shares a codebase with RuneScape. Hell it even uses the same server-side scripting system (RuneScript). Since they DO share a client it makes perfect sense that features from both games would appear in it.

It's not shady or glitchy. I downloaded the RuneScape client which is freely available on the RuneScape website and ran it in a different mode. A mode that is available for use without any modification of the client code in any way. Nothing shady or glitchy about it. Anyone could do it.

Just throwing this out there: maybe these have nothing to do with Stellar Dawn but are actually Runescape projects that got scrapped/haven't been finished?
After all, everything is coded to run in Runescape (in RuneScript), and Andrew just confirmed in his Q&A that MS will be coded directly in java.
Btw, has anyone tried PVP doing this?

'Face here' is probably going to be an update that's supposed to help the people who make Rs vids.
Rating could be the Burthrope Games room rating, which I doubt, or it could be overall, judging by the gear that the player is wearing.
Good find though.

The "MechScape" engine will be written in Java and probably shares a codebase with RuneScape (hence this post). On the server the games CONTENT will be scripted in much the same way that RuneScape is: using RuneScript.
Will people stop simply quoting "MS will be coded directly in java" when they don't really have much idea what they are talking about.
I'll try PVP in this mode now but I wouldn't hold out for anything new.

minigame is possible, remember the ranks from mobilizing armies, those could be part of the "new technology"
Nice find.
I'm thinking that the rating is currently the combat level of the person, but will be used for some type of quest-based system in MechScape (similar to Fabel good/evil alignments).

If this is Stellar Dawn (the game that will have no XP or Levels), I believe rating will be summed up by the amount of technology you posses..and the amount of knowledge you've acquired over time (through gameplay..maybe quests and mini quests).
Btw Egg, I like your sig...reminds me of my morning breakfast ;). (except i screwed it up a bit..didn't wait for the ketchup to cook enough...w/ ketchup u have to put the heat on low or it starts popping..took forever, i took it off early..ate it..didn't taste as good).

Well rating is used in FunOrb multiplayer games as a "status". If you win a rated game you gain points, if you lose well you lose points. So maybe they are going to use a similar concept for MS.

Nice find, though i highly hope the "face here" is for runescape because if it's not, then that removes the idea of WASD movement, as if it was WASD, why the hell would you right click to face a direction when you can just use, D, A etc... maybe i'm wrong but thats how i understand things.
as for rating, it would probbably be like, you do something good, you get rating, you do something bad you lose rating, otherwise it would be just a replacement word for level.
and if Jagex seriosly didn't want us to find those things, they could of added some protection to the codes and stuff couldn't they?

Theres no - between Stellardawn is loading and please wait.
I think jagex deliberately put these in for us to find because although we are running game1 instead of game0 it still would be running the runescape code. So if we were running this new game that is meant to be as far from runescape as possible how would some of its options then become compatible with runescape? Without even causing a glitch. Am i making sense?

It could be controlled with both mouse and WASD controls as the player prefers. I do not think this is leftover RuneScape updates as they only become available when the game is set to Stellar Dawn specifically.

I believe "Face here" will simply change where you are aiming. Possibly for Jagex staff to use for screenshot purposes, since the only way to turn where you character looks would be to trade, chop, etc.
Can you give me a link to the programs necessary to change the Game variable and play the game that way? Are these programs free? Could I get banned if I use them?
Also, have you tried using the custom cursors?
