As many of you know now, "STELLAR DAWN" has been registered as a trademark by Jagex.

Although http://stellardawn.com/ redirects to FunOrb, take a look at the trademarks page. Notice that RuneScape and Stellar Dawn are the ONLY game-class (09 16 25 28 41) trademarks with the type "DW". Other FunOrb games do not have the type "DW" and instead have the type "WO". This obviously shows that "STELLAR DAWN" stands apart from the FunOrb games and is of the same type as "RUNE SCAPE". This means that "STELLAR DAWN" cannot be simply an arcade game in FunOrb, but infact something bigger. This leads me to conclude that Stellar Dawn is the new name of MechScape, seeing as "MechScape" was just a code name.

I'm not sure what DW and WO mean, maybe some of you could help me out by researching this stuff?

Good find. I hope you're right. Anytime people I talk to people here Scape they immediately think "Suck" because they all played a looong time ago, so I hope you're right.

This is old news. But you said it better. Stellar Dawn is a much better name than MechScape. Should stop the whole "it's just gonna fail coz it will be rs in the future!" side of things.

Its already been confirmed multiple times that it isn't a funorb game!

RuneScape, FunOrb, MechScape and Stellar Dawn all have both drawing (DW) and word (WO) trademarks meaning not only are the names protected but the logos too. Just because Jagex trademarked Stellar Dawn doesn't mean they have to use it, but the fact that it is the only new figurative trademark does give it a lot of credence as a likely MechScape name (especially when we hear that Jagex employees have said that it isn't a FunOrb game).

I hope it's MechScapes name, it sounds much better.

Even if Mod Korpz hasn't heard of Stellar Dawn and that picture isn't fake, it certainly doesn't mean it's been confirmed by multiple reliable sources that it won't be a FunOrb game.

Even if it's not a FunOrb game, that doesn't mean it will be the new name for MechScape:

Look, when MMG says "It's just one name in thousands" that has to tell you something.
It's not going to be the name, chances are with their habit of being very secretive they probably don't have the real name out in public.

RuneScape is one name of thousands.
MMG was probably just being vague like all other moderators talking about MechScape.
I completely agree that this is going to be the game's name. It sounds awesome, and it relates to stars and space.

Stellar Dawn just doesn't roll off the tongue, and doesn't sound right.

For example: Stellardawnworld.com? sounds horrible. It doesn't sound like a good name for the game or any websites. Sounds great as a minigame.

Why would Jagex care if the name fits good with the word "world" in the end of it?

It doesn't sound pleasing as a name either way. The "world" thing was an example, and only an example.

Seriously tired of people liking Stellar Dawn just because it doesn't have Scape on it.

Despite what the name is, if the game is good it doesn't matter. Nobody will think it's "runescape in space" unless that's how Jagex made it. If it's called Stellar Dawn but looks like "Runescape in space" a name won't get rid of that fact.

I don't think they can, there are always records in the WHOIS database unless they register it privately (even then there has to be a "paper trail" somewhere).

surely we'll know when they've thought up a name anyway like they have runescape and mechscape they made lots of runescape gold/mechscape gold domains, we haven't seen stellardawn gold.com yet.

Won't matter because if they get rid of Real World Trading there will be no reason to care if those types of sites pop up.

I personally seriously doubt that stellar dawn will be the name of Mechscape, I base my opinion on a recent interview with one of the Mods that he said: I have no idea why we have "stellardawn.com" or infinite dungeon and never ending dungeon pages. (Those are not his words since I am too lazy to go there and make a formal quote :P).

Then again who knows, though I consider "stellardawn" to be way to cheese and lacking of originality.
