It's amazing how gullible this person was. A fire cape, seriously? like anyone else will fall for that. The person sounded too young to be playing Runescape anyway.

I agree. It's not hacking, it's password theft. There is no brute force entry or coding involved at all...

I'd believe the "hacker" in that he only did this for a reason, 'cause he sure as hell didn't sound too happy afterward. And the "hacked" guy really does prove that the Jagex security key is pointless - idiots will be idiots whether they're secured or not. This is the kind of guy that I envisage all the hacked to be.
Admittedly, I'd probably be upset if all my items disappeared (well, it'd scupper my plans for 99 cook) but thankfully they're not the strength of my account - the stats are.
"YOU SAID YOU'D GET ME A FIRE CAPE LIAR!!!!11!1!!!!1!"
"I said I'd get you a cape. Look in your bank, there's a cape."

It's not password theft; it's account sharing. He gave his password to someone else because he wanted some help getting a cape... It's just account sharing gone bad.

One of the adds at the bottom of this page just now was for buying Runescape accounts... I know MSW has no controll over this, but it's still disappointing.
