When I first found out about MechScape (or codename MechScape) this is what I thought: A lot of planets space-crafts and other cool space like things--everything really high tech. Lately I've changed my mind, from the two MechScape Art pictures it seems like MechScape has some flying machines but still usual houses & stuff as you can see in the picture.
So my question is, will MechScape really be as high tech as we first thought, with light speed machines and a lot of the game being in space or will it be on one or two planets with semi high tech as you get better?

Maybe, but remember that we have only seen a few concept pictures. We know next to nothing about it or the other environments, so I'm staying optimistic.

Think star wars(bad example I know): You get some planets like Tatooine which are pretty much tribal settlements in a desert. Other planets like Coruscant have advanced tech everywhere you look.

I'm expecting the game to have high tech areas with ships, machines, mechs etc. Then, there's the poorer looking towns such as the one shown in the concept art.

Be reilistic: You think when we go all over the universe everywhere will be high tech?

I don't see why everything should be high tech. For all we know, IRL, we as humans are rather low tech compared to another possible planet, while other planets may still be developing. Just because something is futuristic doesn't mean it's high tech.
In the 1900's we thought we would be in the future by the new millenium, however look at us now; still in the present.

Or look at our own planet. America is much more high text than some places in Africa, but Japan is more high-tech than America. If you go to these countries you witness a lot of diversity in the way of this and this is how I think the world of Mechscape will be portrayed.

Seems more like a star wars universe where there are still slums and other make shift weapons.

Mechscape will likely involve multiple planets. Some primitive, some advanced, poor, rich, etc. The concept art you show us could be that of a planet with not as much money and not as technologicly advanced as other planets might be. If you have seen star wars you will see that there are primitive worlds (i.e. Felucia), advanced worlds (i.e. Coruscant/Nar Shadaa) and poor worlds (i.e. Tatooine).

I suspect that (from reading all your posts) it will be like the TV series
Firefly(other wise know as Serenity (film version), which although there where lasers and space ships many poorer settlements still had horses and such. Although some of the richer worlds had flying cars and high tech scanners ect.

im not really sure about those planets, if there is going to be lots of planet, the game has to be really big, or the planets is at the size of fally.

A medieval hi-tech age.

No doubt the game will be very high-tech. Simply because it doesn't look high tech doesn't mean it isn't. When technology gets increasing advanced you can compromise functionality for looks since the functionality of certain technologies are so effective.

I think the star wars example is very good on describing the situation, but instead of thousands of planets there are lets say 20 planets. each planet has a unique race or purpose, such as a human planet and then a colonized planet that was barren but humans took it over, Ex Mars. There will not likely be factions, it will most likely be like runescape unless they are doing two friendly factions (ex alien race and humans).
With these ideas I put out the planet you start on will likely be a planet with medium/high technology with a capital (ex varrock). There will then probably be a point when you can teleport to a new planet with harder monsters/robots/idk what else. This new planet will most likely have a small city that is a central point to get "missions" (as they are currently known as) and trade weapons and armor. There will be dungeons and fortresses (ex barrows) in high level areas with very high tech bosses and npcs.

You could even toss Star Trek and Star Gate into the equation. Not all the planets were high tech, some were pre-Industrial middle ages to ancient, some were Early Industrial to Industrial, while others were space-faring planets.
While i doubt Mechscape will feature any medieval-esque places, there may be stuff that resembles frontier/wild west styles like tatooine.
