There may be something to have you able to start life on different planets or make an empire on different planets called space colonization.
You're right, there might be. There might also be space-AIDS. We just don't know.

If there's space-AIDS, there's space-cancer. ;)

I think that there necessarily wont be random colonization, if there is that would be awesome but it is really hard to keep data on thousands of players. There will be servers obviously but I think that there will be runescape server to server free movement rather than WoW where you have to stay on one server unless you move which would make this impossible just about. The environment would have to be millions and millions of planets which would be ridiculous to hold data for.
Mission colonization is very possible however, it would basically be the same as runescape when you do a quest and you unlock an area. However you would "colonize" rather than find an area.

I hope not, This game better not be turn based or strategy but a fun rpg in which in real time you get to socialize!

true i have to agree with smokee, i'm not for any kind of "colonization" of sorts.
Althouughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i am for the ability to design and build buildings and such with groups of players until the city becomes part of the actual world map. Similar to Star wars galaxies

Colonization might work, if it was mission-based. For instance, you do a mission and unlock the subsequent place. but instead of finding it through the mission, you 'colonize' it. However, this might not work because there might be people who have already done that mission in the city when you get there, which will confuse you. Better to have it the way Runescape has it, where you find places during the mission which you didn't have access to before.

Hey , im brand new to mechscape world , but my idea on colonization would be similar to guilds owning sections of a city or such in guildwars factions , possibly powerful clans in mechscape could own a city ? And be challenged for the rights to own the city ? I suppose its not quite colonization but in a mmorpg i cant see how colonization would work

I like that idea, I have never heard that before and it sounds fun. This might be possible but on the "sticky server" basis I was talking about before that is similar to World of Warcraft servers. Im not sure on the owning parts of the universal game as that would make progressing really difficult if a town controlled by a hostile clan/guild.
