I know that Jagex is working pretty moderately on making filming easier for RuneScapers who are video artists. So do you think that Jagex will also allow features that make it easier to film MechScape and do neat special effects? Any ideas?

I'm sure any important tech used in runescape will be available in MS as long as it is relevant. Video making is relevant in any video game, so you can probably look forward to that.

For some reason I get the feeling they won't, but I might be wrong. I'd like it If they had support for it though.

I agree that Jagex would probably make an area in Mechscape where it is easier to make movies, just as they are planning to do for Runescape. Film-makers have made funny and interesting movies for every game, and i doubt Mechscape would be an exception.

Good topic Max.
I personally am planning on being a serious Mechscape Youtuber so this is something I'm looking forward to figuring out and seeing for myself. The graphics are going to be a little bit more advance, but didn't Jagex say it uses the same Graphics Engine as RS? So I'm sure it should record at about the same rate as RS Videos.

Yes, the same for me Neven. I plan to do videos going across the board going from tutorials to pure entertainment. Oddly enough that isn't how I thought up of the topic.
For the engine... it will no doubt be based off of RuneScape's. The library that they use for their programming is no doubt pooled with RuneScape's as well. At least I would believe it would be.

Maybe I'll do the same and make videos like that. We could all ban together and promote each other. The only thing I'm worried about though is being able to record Mechscape in-game, because if it has better graphics, most likely It'll be hard for me to record with this laptop.
So, perhaps I'll buy a new laptop, If I have too.

What screen recorder do you guys use ?

I plan on using Camtasia, (I think it's called?), in order to do my Machinima that takes place after my False War unread story... But, really depends on the gameplay elements, like customizations, camera views, etc... won't do it if the Pilots we use are all ants when we play the game.
I think they may have a special Instanced Invite Only Green Screen Room and such for the purpose of recording, etc.

I've used several different recorders. Fraps is by far the best I've have had to use. I don't know how well it works for RuneScape or let alone if it will work for MechScape for that matter.
As for advertising each other, I will only do it if you are producing quality videos.

Right back at'cha Max ;) I'll see what I can do though when It comes out.
Uhm and I just tried recording runescape with Fraps right now and it seems it won't record in-browser, so I don't know if It'll work out. It'd suck if you couldn't use it for Mechscape.
@EliteZeon - That's what I usually use. Have you seen HD on Camtasia ? Its pretty awesome.

A few of my friends are into RSMV making, and I would have thought they'd be taking it over to MSMVs as well. It's really going to depend on the variety of emotes and actions you can do though, as if it's all moody and serious for every emote then there aren't loads of songs you can do.
Might be interesting how it fits in with maturity.

There will probably be some, what I like to call, Jagex humor. :P

Well I love making runescape comedies and I'm going to try it out in mechscape too. There could be more possibilities If their are other races

I think it would be a great idea to have special effects and backgrounds in the game, but there is one problem.
If I ever watch a video on Youtube and it has effects from something as average as Windows Movie Maker, I can tell. It kind of spoils the whole video, as you can tell that the person who made the video is a bit of a noob to video-making. If I ever use it... well I try not to. I just think 'No, that looks terrible'.
If Jagex made it so that any old person could use all the resources, they'd end up making the resources taken for granted and if you saw a MS machinima, you'd just think: 'Oh, they used that noob effect again'. I think that to show you are an experienced video-maker, you would get MS effects depending on ratings of your machinima from the MS Official Forums (if there is one) from fellow video-makers and fans or haters over time. In this way, if there is a cool effect you can tell if a noob or a video-veteran is using it :D

ahh what, how? I couldn't get it to record. I went in-game and pressed the hotkey and it wouldn't do anything. Mine was unregistered and i wasn't in full screen though, so that might have been why it didn't work.

Well... in Guild Wars, half of the game is serious, dealing with the main storyline. While the other half, dealing with Side Quests, etc... very humorous.
A number of emotes are hilarious in that game, my favorite being the "Dance" and "Fist Shake" emotes.
Hell, in the final mission for Guild Wars Nightfall when you fight the main antagonist, when you dance in front of him, he will do a dance back, once he finishes his little dance, everyone in the party dies and it will say, "You Got Served" on the top of the screen.
In anycase, what I mean is... I think there will be much humor involved in this game, so if we are given emotes, they will be humorous to some degree.
