None really, Its more that all those games are bound together, atleast I think. Its not really a strategy, tho you will have minigames with strategy stuff. Neither it is a mission only game (you know what I mean), tho there will be quests

Probably this game, without the first person view... or 3rd person action shooter style.
Eh... why don't they ever release the GOOD Universal Century Gundam games?

Since we've never seen Mechscape, It doesn't resemble anything.

No game is ever going to be completely unique.
And you can't compare MechScape to ANY game because there is ZERO info. (Besides worthless text and some concept art)

Because Jagex said that it would be unlike any mmo. It wouldn't by like any of those. MechScape resembles Jagex's theory of the perfect mmo.

it has to resemble something in some aspect like the look the custimazation the combat they cant make completely unique its impossible it has to resemble something .

I'm thinking the customization will be similar to runescape's since Jagex are so proud of it.

I don't know much about games ... but I have a couple of questions... and I couldn't find anything in the other threads because I am not sure exactly what I a looking for but...
Have any of the press releases or articles said that this will be a 1 player / 1 character mmo? (Do you call this a first person game? )
Could Mechscape be a game where you control a group of characters; or a planet; or an organisation? (Is this called a god game?)
In the 'Casual Gaming' interview Jagex says
QUOTE
Just to give you a hint, his game doesn’t have XP {Experience points]. It is so different from everything else.
and
QUOTE
The second one was realising why, at that point, sci-fi didn’t work with MMOs, because it worked with every other game but not with MMOs. We identified a few things that MMOs in the sci-fi space were getting wrong. They were dressing fantasy mechanics as sci-fi, but there was no difference in handling a sword or handling a Light Sabre or handling a Blaster. It was the same mechanic; you have to shoot the blaster several times to grind XP.
Which sort of suggests that there is no HP. Or does it?

It would resemble StarCraft...Without the WarCraft plot.

Aug 7 2009, 01:03 PM
Seeing as how every game there is a WoW clone dressed in lasers and high tech swords, besides EVE, Mechscape won't be like any of them. Besides, Jagex said that it won't be like any current MMORPG, scifi or not.

Of course they would say that; after all, it is their brainchild. To be honest though, the unique experience (or lack thereof) system that Jagex have talked about is the main thing that wins me over and also makes me think that it won't be line any other MMO.

i don't know what most of these are but all i care about is that it isn't like EvE Online! I'd be dissapointed in Jagex.

"To this end, Mechscape has turned to sci-fi titles such as Ascendancy and Masters of Orion for inspiration in regards to their game mechanics. In addition, Mechscape will not be featuring experience points or levels, much like another game we just talked about."
Isn't that actually the correct answer or am i interpreting the text incorrect? So will it be a 4X MMO?

Aug 12 2009, 10:35 AM
I have played none of those games so I just ticked all of them. Although Jagex is looked towards those games, it is more likely to be technology and game play(skilling?) wise rather than being a 4X itself.

I think MechScape is on its own, as Jagex has told us oh so many times. But still, it could be a bit like Star Wars Galaxies, but that's only slightly. MechScape will be unique.

I might come back to this later but none where ones that I knew or sounded very good. If you had metroid prime on there I would hve gone with that. If you haven't played it before you should rent it. It's fun and challenging. The only problem would be gettin permission to make it resemble metroid prime. But it could be easier than iI think.
