What do you guys think? Leak? I see no other reason my account name would need to be followed by itself in parentheses.
Syphzar
Possibly, as I don't see why that might be happening... although I doubt this would have been added in prior to this update. I'm somewhat hoping there isn't the name changes update, it may make many things difficult, as I'm not sure how it would work completely.
Shadowgoomba
I'm fairly certain it will work the same way as this sites display name thing; basically, a nickname for the account.

Yes, but how will a friend list / in-game work... would you see both names, or just one of them? And if it's only the display name which can be changed, then you wouldn't be able to keep track of who is who, and if it's only your actual username, then there isn't a point in a display name... if it's both, that's kind of over doing it. That's what I wonder about when I heard about this possible update.

This would work good for forums - such as these - but not very well in-game. So I'd say this might be an update they'll decide against.

In-game, probably something like whats shown in the screenie; Name1 (name2)

And I think one of the mods confirmed it was being worked on, or maybe it was on twitter.. can't remember. Someone else who sees this will probably know.
Lord John
Having account name then nickname would be stupid... It'd make the friends list so cluttered and you'd may as well not set a nickname.

I noticed ages ago that the Runescape Forums put your name on almost everything in the "My Profile" section and has done so for ages.
Wege
Yeah, I got the same. But it has always been like this for me. I registered as colintje3 and they changed it into Colintje3.

Shadowgoomba
Well if you registered it with the first letter as a lower case it automatically changes into a capital, but I registered mine with a capital.

That's weird... Though I remember playing with colintje3 with the lower case letter... Jagex just changed it after a while.

It has been like that for years, however it could be something to do with name-changing
EliteZeon
In Guild Wars...

You add simply one character name, and all the names registered to that account will be added to your friends list, taking up only one name slot.

So, if they have a multiple naming system in RuneScape, FunOrb, etc and someone Logs In, it would perhaps say something like.

Kyo - (EliteZeon) then if the person switches nicknames or another character, it will instead say Zazie - (EliteZeon), taking up only one slot.

It could be something like City of Heroes where you have 2 friends list. One is for that one character and the other is for your account in general. And your name for our account's friends list would probably show up as your account name.
Gandaf007
Eh... I'd rather not have a name change system. From my experiences, it's a huge hassle.
Vanguard
Wow nice, it looks like its going to be close.
Stellar
It has always been like that. I remember a post on the RSOF years ago complaining that the 'My Profile' said his name too may times.

Edit:Nevermind...

I didn't realize that was you searching a name...hmm that's interesting.
Pliigi
It's been like that for several years so I doubt it's any sort of leak.

Well it's like the example they give when you're naming the account (red_rooster will automatically become Red Rooster), but I started playin just a couple years ago.

I was in "My Profile"

And if it's been like that for years.. why? I believe you, but I don't see the reason why it's like that.
