Full Version: Gertjaars Got Locked!

Might be temporary, I don't know, but he seems pretty pissed... Hope he gets it back soon...

Lol @ the text: Your account has been locked as we suspect it has been stolen. tongue.gif

Anyways, do you care about this? (Might seem like a random question, but I don't know how to express it otherwise... Can't express myself in a sentence like this properly yet, so I asked it like this tongue.gif)

Also, I didn't know whether this should be in General, or Media, as it's kind of both...
Cyph3r
Lol that's really really f'd up. Stupid motherf***ers
am64360 2
WTF?

This must be a rickroll drama thing...
Cursed
Dang... =\

Anyone know what he uses to play the client. Doesn't look as though its in a browser.
Gary
The problem with this will hurt him down the road much more.

Once your account is locked for being "Suspected of stolen" then it becomes far more easy to get locked after wards, Chances are unless they actually have someone take a look at it. He may be locked often.
Darth Irule
Who is gertjaars?
And if it says that it was locked because they think it was stolen, then he can submit an appeal and wait 3 days to get it back.
WiiRoxedem
Wow, this sucks.. pinch.gif
Man
It would suck soo bad if he loses that account after all the hard work he put into it. I think it happened to Zezima once, a few years back.
am64360 2
This owns sucks!
Dirk
He might change his IP address often, and therefore Jagex sees it as multiple computers trying to access one account. This has happened to a few people I know.
Max
I'm sure Jagex will take care of him. He put a lot of time into his account.
am64360 2
He'll be unlocked in 6 hours 48 minutes. MUAHAHAHAHA!

Take that as a prediction.

Who is gertjaars?

The top player on RuneScape Hiscores. His account probably got locked by kids trying to recover the password.
MC
I have a feeling that, due to him being the #1 player in RuneScape right now, Jagex will probably work this out.
Shadowgoomba
lol.. I remember that guy... a few years back he scammed me.. I think it was maybe 1k gp, which made it really pathetic.
am64360 2
HAHA you got scammed! WTF, gert isn't a scammer... Gert is a noob nerd loser failure legit player.
Shadowgoomba
Yes, as a very low level player, I did in fact get scammed. Out of a grand.

OH TEH NOESSSS. -_-'
Lord John
Don't care really. We all know Zezima is the actual No.1. Nowadays people can power skills to 99 with ease as long as they are willing to waste their life on it.

Facts for ya.
A magic log fletches into a magic longbow for 91.5 xp it can be done every 2.5 seconds. Banking takes 17 seconds. 2.5×28=70 70+17=87 3600 / 87 × 91.5 × 28 = approx 103k xp an hour. Using SC knives, that's 206k xp an hour. at 14 hours a day, that's 2.884m. In one week, that's 20.188m xp. HOW CAN YOU BE SO INSANE AS TO TRAIN 14 HOURS A DAY, 7 DAYS A WEEK, for almost 70 days!?
FM!

Lighting magics, 2.5 seconds a light, 28 seconds a bank. 303.8xp for lighting them, makes 8506.4xp an inventory. 2.5×28+28=98 3600 / 98 × 8506.4 = 312840 xp an hour!! You can see why he chose to light magics. At 14 hours a day, you get 4,379,760xp a day; and 30,658,320 xp a week!!
Cooking
210xp a shark, 2.5 seconds a cook, 11 seconds a bank. 2.5×28+11=81 210×28=5880xp an inventory. 3600 / 81 × 5880 = 261,333.3 xp in one hour... 14 hours a day makes 3,658,666xp in a day, and 25,610,666.6xp in a week.

I'll leave the jury to decide this.

sadly, some people have no lives. i remember getting 2m in 1 day when i got my first 99, which was fletching. after i got it, i slept for 14 hours. i dont see how some people can do it.
killrrhubarb
I heard that gertjaars bought the account when it had one level 99, although he worked to get the other ones, he certainly didn't put the long hours zezima did.
Dracul
omg wow Z0mg ITS THE END OF THE W0rlD Dear LORD WHAT AM I GONNA DO SOME NUGGETHEAD CALLED GERTJAARS GOT LOCKED OH MY GOD!

Seriously who cares, its pixels and graphics, not life.

He was probably doing something stupid like, as a mod stated, botting, and they caught him doing it but, they decided to be nice, give him the benefit of the doubt and say that the account was stolen so they locked it.

But other then that, i don't play runescape anymore, and i really can give a hoot if some poor duckling lost his/her account over some petty issue.

I don't mean to be a butt head, i apoligize, i've got a massive headache at the moment

Something I've been wondering for a while is: "What the heck is a Gert Jar?"
SupaKilla
Its german or something I think.
Assassin
I think the Gert is Jam, and the Jar, well that's obvious..

So in fact, the top player in Runescape is... A Jam Jar?

(I know, Gert isn't really Jam -.-)
Shadowgoomba
Well.. maybe the guys last name..?

Apparently the guy behind Zezima is Peter Zezima..

I've always wanted someone to make an account named Fake Zezima and get it to the #1 spot.

Could have shared accounts/take shifts to grind up those exps. That's what a group of people did in Mabinogi to get a character unique title.

I think the anti macro update was mostly scare tactics by Jagex. Perhaps GertJaars got scared and altered his RSCA scripts.

Well, he is Dutch, so I guess his name is supposed to be a Dutch name which translated would be:

Gert is a name, so that stays Gert, and Jaar = Year (I have no idea what the S is doing there though... A random S perhaps?)

So Gertjaars = Gertyears?
Cyph3r
It's probably just his lastname(Jaar/Jaars)

He doesn't bot. When you have cash like he does, you can afford expensive methods.

I being an active member of the Rs skilling community know for a fact he did black d hide bodies to 200m craft, magic logs to 200m fm, and sharks/wines to 200m cooking.

All are super fucking fast, you wouldn't have a need to bot.

And as for how he gets money, simple, merchanting. Ccr Lyder taught him and then he fucked him over. Don't you just love SS? ;)
Crash Jordan
Adding onto my previous post:

Oh and how it got locked: It's pretty simple to get any account locked. Keep sending requests saying it's your account thats been hijacked and Jagex, with their oh so terrible customer support, lock it automatically.
Lord John
Adding on to why I don't care; It irritates me that people will throw away their life into a game. Sure, playing for fun is nice, but it seems these top players do it as some sort of job where they must tirelessly work to achieve all 99s no matter how boring. Perhaps he might see a life outside of Runescape and see his pixels for what they really are.

*Prepares for flame* I can gurantee someone who dedicates their life to being the fanboy of the number one player will attack me for my comment.

I do agree, you should play for fun... I myself realy do want a few 99's... Been so long since I started playing, and I've been training for so long (Yeah, I do train slow... When I get distracted I just quit playing... Decided to get my first 99 somewhere around the end of 2009.)

The people who bot are more respectable. Instead of turning RuneScape into a job, they learn a programming or scripting language and create an undetectable bot. They come out on top because they don't waste their life on the game, they taught themselves a computer language which has real value, and they're the ones who get payed to play the game.

The people who bot are more respectable...? Not in my eyes, they essentially fall into the same category of people who cheat in exams. It's not cool, it's not funny, and it degrades everyone else who have worked hard for their skills/grades/whatever. Just because someone created the bot for themselves does not make them more respectable, it just makes them more sadder for being so insecure about themselves that they need to become #1 in order to gain popularity and attention.

I'm not suggesting Gertjaars is a bot (his account has been unlocked now anyway), but I've had friends who I raced to a certain level in a skill, they beat me, and I later find out they used a bot whilst I worked hard and lost. Does that make them more respectable? Er, no.
Crash Jordan
I like how you assume anyone who's a top player has "no life". Stupid assumptions. Grow up.
Lord John
True assumtions when you can get those stats in record time. Just like N0va Lyfe.

Besides, I haven't talked to Gertjaars, nor do I want to so what he likes to do with his spare time (apart from Runescape) is anyones guess.

Just on a side note, I did look up while typing my message and saw your stat signature and could almost guess that you'd say that ;)
I don't mean to offend. If they love to play the game and grind for hours, they can be my guest. It honestly doesn't affect me.

He'll probably get unlocked sooner or later.

Cheating is wrong when it deprives the person of knowledge they might need later in life. However, cheating is not an unfair advantage since I'm just as capable of cheating on a test or Googling "RuneScape macro" as someone else. Have you ever felt like you did something morally wrong after typing in a cheat code?

In my opinion, anyone who spends their free time learning new things is better than the a person who waste it. They bettered themselves by perhaps reading a book, engaged in social interactions to build friendships, or something else while you stared at a screen. In my opinion, the other person is better. Although, I do understand everyone needs some down time.

People can have great accounts by playing 1 hour every day since the game was release (9 years ago), but to be #1 you have to play a lot to compete with the people in second and third place.
Lord John
Such as Zezima. I'm sure he did his fair share of grinding as he essentially did everything the "hard way" through classic and early RS2, but he spread it over 5 years or so.

Perhaps, not all no.1 grind Runescape as a job. Considering how easy Runescape has become, it would just require a dedicated player to train via these fast ways to reach No.1

It'd still take time, but it'd be much faster and allow the person, perhaps Gertjaars, to have what people call "a life" and not have to be permanently playing.

For instance, smithing, which used to be a REALLY hard skill to train is now very easy. A friend recently got 99 smithing and was getting 300k experience an HOUR.
