Full Version: MechScape World Becomes Partner Status to DWB
MechScape World > Mechscape World > News & Announcements

Some months ago, 50% of MechScape World's future revenue was pledged to helping charities. (You can read the old topic here.) Charity is a habit not easy to break. So, for the past few months, traffic has been increasing as has our net revenue. This partner-level donation to Doctors Without Borders is our way of making YOUR time on our forums help save lives in many countries. Thank you, MechScape World users. As we continue to grow, so will our philanthropic exploits and we hope that other fansites follow the charge to convert some of their traffic to saving lives.

This is awesome. 250 dollars is alot to donate to charity's and can do alot.
Its so cool that a gaming forum can do something like this, it makes me like this place so much more.

Great job Mechscape World biggrin.gif

Charity is a good thing, not many fansites do that.

Go MSW!

DWB is also a great charity.
Rich
That's great. I'm proud to be a member of such a generous fansite; it's great to know that collectively we can help others out there.
Ren
Thanks to all who visited this site and made it a possibility! ^_^

I'm a big fan of charities and have worked as a volunteer for the British Red Cross providing basic first aid emergency life support training (specifically for children). In charities you'll find some of the most dedicated, hard-working and inspirational people you can imagine. However, they do need resources to do their good work which is why I encourage everyone who can afford it to donate what they can to make the (non-MechScape) world a better place (or do volunteer work and help out on the front line).

Sweet. smile.gif
Thank you everyone for continuing to visit MechScape World! Every time you visit, you're helping more than just the community.

Wow, I had no idea that by regularly checking for information on a video game I was helping out doctors. And strangely, none of my money is missing.

P.S. is it a good idea to put so much information about yourself online for all to see? I have seen some creeeeepy dudes in Everett.

Yeah giving money is easy, going there and spending time and putting effort into directly helping (looking for more donations, etc..and making use of the money donated) is another :D. But donations are just as important, good job Mechscape World :). Thanks for making the right decision Laura and MSW Staff :).

I had to dis Everett because I have never been to Snohomish I tend to stick to cities along I-5 Hahaha. Most I know about that city is they got a Casino there with REALLY ANNOYING radio ads.

Anyway back on subject. Knowing all this stuff will help me to cope with all the stupid ads I see. At least the pain they caused my eyes/brain helped fund a good cause.

I had completely forgotten about your promise to donate part of the net revenue. It's nice to see you've kept your word.

By the way, seeing the past thread, I've remembered how much of an idiot I was when I first joined. How did I not get banned? confused.gif

Great to see the charity donations continuing and having Jagex notice & appreciate it. Seems like we're getting a lot of mentions on their Twitter all of a sudden.

Our donations go towards our server and improving MechScape World. The donations we make to charities come from half of our advertising revenue (The other half covers the server on top of donations.) So this is your viewing and clicking ads at work, not your donations (Though we really appreciate those, too!)

How much money is raised each time you click on an advertisement?
PoultryChamp
Please do not click on any advertisements unless you find them genuinely interesting.

It varies. We cannot discuss how much money we make on our advertisements.

awesome, good to see another donation going to them. biggrin.gif

Whoa, I'm astonished (in a good way).

This is my first post and second time on MSW - I hop on to the announcement subforum (searching for forum rules sleep.gif ) and see this.

I use various forums quite often and this is a definite first!

It surely bodes well for the quality of the community here.

Good job happy.gif

This is great, I'm glad our surfing is put to good use.

Thank you. biggrin.gif

It's really good to know that such a small amount of people can make such a large difference at no expense of their own. Well done MSW, keep up the hard work!

When you're a kid/teen it's understandable to be a bit afraid of the boogie men out there, and for good reason. I'm a web developer, an artist, and a hobby photographer. Like Rhoi, I want my name out there.

Nice work. It's really great to see us reaching out to the community like this. smile.gif

Oh wow that's quite a bit more then I would have expected. Viewing pages goes a long way especially when you have thousands viewing everyday.
