This is Great! Thanks Jagex. It looks like MechScape will have better sound quality then RuneScape. Like MC I was afraid that MechScape would have similar music/music quality to RuneScape, but I don't have to worry any more.

I've been very confident about MechScape having a great soundtrack and I was right.

I love the Industrial genre influence in there.

I doubt this is an ingame song.
It's just like the music from the RS Trailer they have - it sounds better, but isn't featured ingame.
Still. It sounds rather nice.

This is excellent news. So glad for Jagex to have chosen MechScape World as the Fansite to receive this great teaser.
I really like it. It's calm and is definately fitting to the Sci-Fi Genre that MechScape will be modelled around. Great work Jagex!

Can't wait for MechScape to be released!

Nice!
It was definately composed with software. Sounds like something FL Studio or Reason would produce.
Would have been nice to hear some deeper hardware sounds like John Stanford's
Sea of Tranquility, but I'm not complaining, this track is leaps and bounds better than any Jagex have produced before.

Woo, we've been tweeted again:
"What does the future sound like? MechScapeWorld have an audio track from the forthcoming #Jagex MMO. Follow this link:

Regarding my thoughts on the music: I really like the composition and makes me very excited. Furthermore I love that it feels like a full composition and not just a well-sequenced MIDI. It sounds really atmospheric and futuristic, and I can just imagine being on a space base with dark flickering lights while this song is playing. This song has that cool futuristic eerie techno cyber feel to it, but I'm guessing that the game will have a variety of styles depending on where you are. I wonder if each species will have their own genre of music, with for example the Mechs having this type of music and maybe the Pliigi having more earthy music with perhaps some woodwind and drums. If there is a big mix and all are of this calibre then I definitely wouldn't mind buying a soundtrack for it if it was sold as MP3. Anyway, thanks again to Jagex and thumbs up to the unidentified composer.

Bloody marvellous! This is quite literally exactly what I hoped MechScape's music would sound like (or at least what one aspect of the music would sound like). If the in-game musical roster matches the compositional and audio quality of that track then I'm sold already.
Btw, great editing on the vid Ren. :)

Wow, this is amazing! I've definitely never heard anything like it! Now I really can't wait until MechScape comes out!
The music itself sort of paints a picture in my head. It starts with a large, damaged, and abandoned space craft found in the middle of space. The group who found it decides to board it to see if they can salvage any of the parts or equipment. Then around 3:10 or so in the song, they discover why the damaged ship was abandoned. Whatever the reason may be, they make a mad dash to escape with their lives. Whether or not they escape I do not know...
The high quality music makes me wonder if MechScape will work on my internet connection. This piece of music was only 5mb or so, but it took me a minute or so to download, and MechScape will likely include hundreds of different tracks. Should I be worried?

Nope; 5MB is probably nothing compared to the size of the whole game. Besides, the music will likely be streamed. This will allow it to play even while it's loading (like how YouTube works)

The back-end upgrade they mentioned on RuneScape made me think fancier music was possible, fancier graphics and music are much easier to pull off with faster servers and more bandwidth. Music on FunOrb doesnt take too long to load, and its similar quality to this, but theres only a few songs per game and they all load at the beginning. I'm guessing there might be an option to decide how much space MechScape can take up on your hard drive, more space meaning more songs and stuff being saved to keep you from having to load them every time.

One word: AWESOME
Music sounded very nice being a muscian myself. It sounded like a mix of Halo and Spyro put in a blender with a techno violin then tenderized and stretched out.

Thanks Jagex and the community!! It is the very reason I am proud to be part of the Mechscape World!
LONG LIVE MECHSCAPE!

Well as far as we know MechScape is still a codename.
OnTopic: I liked the sound of the music track. It's really leaps and bounds ahead of RuneScape's soundtrack. Which is a good thing because when I log in every few weeks I usually just turn the music off.

It sounds a bit strange to me, meaning it doesn't sound like a game song...it sounds like its for something else.
I do like it though
i just can't imaging me listening to this while playing. I wonder why it would be 6 minutes as well.

What I like about the song is that it's so well composed, as everyone else said. It sounds less like Runescape music, when it comes to the amount of time they probably spent making it. Sounds more mature and just overall more like a song that utilizes the latest technology to make browser based java songs ha.
Edit: I don't think many people are listening to the whole song cause the second half of it sounds like that something out of a Daft Punk Album, to a certain degree.

Well if you imagine yourself listening to the not-so-great RuneScape music you can definitely imagine yourself listening to this in-game :p
6 minutes would probably be so the song isn't some short loop.

Which is why I've decided to make a petition to implement in-game DISCO BREAKS! Everyone gets together, stops playing momentarily and dances to the music. Awesome thought eh?
