Prank on the main website maybe? The link leads to the Runescape rules, maybe the writer had Mechscape on the mind. And I thought updates don't happen on the weekend!

Edit: Some guy on RSOF says the same happens when you search FunOrb.

This is interesting. It could be a verbal Blooper/typo on their part...or as you said the writer could've had Mechscape on his/her mind or its just a prank.

This is very interesting. I find it somewhat interesting how they quote something from within the article but yet it is not in there. I'm probably going to have to dismiss this as a database error where they typed it in wrong but I don't remember it being that way then I searched mechscape on the database before. So the possibility that Jagex is teasing us is quite a possibly. I don't see it as something where RuneScape's and MechScape's rules are the same, no doubt they will be similar, but using the same wording is something that would dismiss it as a possibility.

I find that searching through other keywords I have two quotes to compare where they link to the same article.

If you look at the beginning, they are different besides the names being changed.

Yet again, the most simplistic of things such as typing "MechScape" into the RuneScape Homepage Search has given us something quite significant in terms of "teasers" actually on an already existing Jagex products' site. I can remember back to the time when the MechScape logo was hidden in the RuneScape CSS Stylesheet files way back, and that was in the form of a teaser. They removed it quite promptly when people discovered that though.

Yeah, if you click the rules it'll replace MechScape with RuneScape.

It's a simple glitch if the odds are against us. If not, Jagex likes playing around.


True, plus if you type in any 4 word letter in replace of 'Mech' or 'Rune' with '-Scape' nothing will come up. That's funny.

So much for a coding-related theory o.O But maybe.. lol. Only way to find out how that happened is to ask Jagex (I don't like trying to guess a thousand different possibilities :P).

I think it's a teaser more than anything. I don't know if MechScape will have the same rules as RuneScape, since it's aimed at an older demographic. The interface could be entirely different from RuneScape, could this lead to a difference in how someone reports? All of these questions lead me to believe that it's a teaser.

That was released by searching for bulldog in the kbase. Most likely it's the same thing with Mechscape.

The link for the pic is broken, but as someone stated on the RSOF it happens when you search FunOrb too.... Could this mean the release of Mechscape is nigh?! Huff, I wish.

Oh yeah, the search for Funorb on the RS site comes up with "FunOrb games are played...." with everything else the same as the RS rules of conduct. The Funorb code of conduct is also an almost exact copy of the Runescape code of conduct, with the exception of grammar for the first part and the name in "RuneScape is played". Could this mean....

Because it happened with FunOrb too it means it was an accident and also means that they are piecing together a knowledge base type feature for the mechscape site.

Or it could be Photoshopped.

So to be honest, I'm more concerned now if that may be the name of the game.

We know it is currently the code name so it'd be the name they'd use as a placeholder.
