Today OfficialJagex's twitter account was updated with:
QUOTE
Sorry to disappoint but the "project delayed until next week" mentioned in today's RS update isn't MechScape. Soon though, we promise Ajd
So what does this mean? They are coming right out with the powerful word "promise", when they could have simply ended it with a, "Sorry for any confusion." This could really mean we are very close to release:D

I don't think it really means anything. It's just another pointlessly vague statement with no real meaning.

Soon could mean in a month or a couple of months. It's just a relative vauge statement. For instance one moment in time could be the human existence or a few seconds when you watch the ball bounce on the ground. I would say that soon in this case would mean that they are probably saying that don't get down that mention wasn't MechScape and that they are working hard and 'soon' it will be coming out.
At least they clarified that it wasn't MechScape or everyone would be on their toes when we shouldn't be so much.

Any time this year is soon considering the domain was registered in 2003 and they started working on it officially in 2006, but thanks for posting.

Well I'm going to keep my hopes up. With the lack of MechScape info lately, the fact that they took the time to post something like this using the powerful word "promise", a word they have never used before in relation to MechScape, I'm thinking it really is more of a hint in the direction of what "soon" means to us and not the company that's been working on it for 7 years.

I'm trying to think of what the project could be. Parental controls is a project they are working on but it isn't that exciting. I know they are planning the display name changes and the separation of friends list from clans, but I thought those weren't so far advanced. Then there is of course the new forums, but that's not really an in-game thing and I also think its kinda far away.

Right, soon can mean anything. However we were told there would be "hints" before the beta release, so while I'm not saying it'll be released soon, I think it's important to start working on MechScape projects here at MSW ASAP.

It's Bounty Hunter, it went into "Testing" on the 16th and it's the only real big project that they have been talking about to the users on RS.

A project we were hoping to release this week was found to have bugs, and so has been delayed until next week. While we’re aware that these are relatively small fixes, we hope that you’ll appreciate them nonetheless.
This what you're looking for?

Mobilizing Armies maybe? The new minigame they've been working on for those who don't know

It seems to skim over everyone's head that runescape and mechscape are two different projects. Therefore, mechscape isn't the project being delayed.
Perhaps it's the return of a specific minigame or the release of a new one.

I wouldn't say it means nothing, it shows that it is coming in the near future, as in they arn't going to delay it until 2010 or anything.
And I think the thing they were referring to was Mobilizing Armies, as it was supposed to have come out quite a while ago...
Neven
Apr 28 2009, 09:37 PM
I think that Jagex is probably referring to a Runescape related Project, if Mechscape was to be postponed, I think it would be more than a week in my opinion. Besides, there hasn't been much information released on Mechscape from Jagex, you'd think that they would give us some more concept art or Wallpapers before they go ahead and release the game.

Jagex releases a very vague statement that could be interpreted as basically anything. Don't even waste your time trying to psychoanalyze it. I won't put any stock in these little blurbs or statements, they won't tell you about the release until the day it gets released.

Coming soon, dont think so. So far from what I have seen, "soon" to them translates into 2-5 months time.

I am really hoping that the 'update' is Mobilizing Armies; i have been waiting for that game since fall 2008 when they said it would come out in December >.< haven't heard anything about it in forever... i wish they would make a dev diary about something interesting like mobilizing Armies to give up a nice status update rather that make dev diaries for the very beginning of a quest where basicly all they say is, 'hey we are gonna make a new dwarf quest, we haven't even started it yet and we have no idea what we are going to do in it but it is going to be be awesome'.
i do like that they are having some dev diaries through all stages of things to give us an idea of how things work and everything, but it would be nice if they could still give us some status updates on stuff that is coming out sooner.

We seem to have forgotten about Dungeon Maps. in the development diary they seemed like they were pretty far into development of it. In the Rest & Musicians they seemed pretty close, too, though. It's hard to say, Jagex seems to have a lot of "projects" at the moment.

I thought jagex said that Mobilizing armies was finished in december, and that they were going to tweak it a little more, then release it in January. But that's passed, so i think its Mobilizing armies.
