Chapter III-Renewal-
Two voices were overheard… nothing eligible… everything nothing but gibberish. I opened my eyes… all still a blur. There was nothing but two visible figures in a white room. And then the two curtains closed, fallen into sleep once again.
There it was, a bright blur in the sky, smoldered in a heap of green and red gasses of smoke. It was an aircraft, of unknown sort. My perspective came to be inside the mechanism… I flew the craft to an airbase, being raided by unknowns… The craft had now disappeared, as I was armed with nothing but my hands. Figures fired at me… I opened my eyes, and sat straight up. It was a random dream…
I was within the Neres Airbase Medical Station. The current room was a pure tanned white color. Many beds lay beside and around mine, yet they were mostly empty, only filled with some ill military personal and recruits injured during some training accidents, all sitting upward, and quickly getting checked up by some medics.
Half of my body was covered in bandages, yet, I felt nothing in pain… my mind started to wander into some strange thoughts and theories… I shook them off, and thought more logically. I remember being shocked and burnt by my own electrical magic. Seems as though I had fainted from exhaustion, and I was sent into this facility to make a speedy recovery. Eh… that must be it.
“Awaken Commander?” a very familiar female voice had said.
I glanced towards my left. December was standing by the bed, holding in her arms a tray with some orange Orceana Meat, a Chocolate Cake, and a large violet Xeola Fruit. There was also a small container for optional green Yiina Sauce for the meat, a fork, spoon and knife, and a bottle of purified water. December was also holding a small sheet of paper and had a bag around her waist.
“Here, once you finish eating, we will remove your bandages, and then we are to report to the airfield,” she said.
I quickly ate my delicious meal… this taste meant something important was to come up. I wondered what it was… Perhaps, war had been declared? Most likely… If not… then what…?
I finished my meal as December then laid the tray aside. A male Saurian then approached me. He was a little taller than me, had bright blue scales, and glowing white eyes. He was also wearing a doctor’s coat, and holding a digital clipboard.
“S-`ere we go… S-so Lieutenant Kyo S-shiba?” He said as he looked on the clipboard and pressed some tabs with his stylus. “Alright, we s-should be fully healed now… lets-s take a look now.” The large lizard-like creature then put the clipboard away, and then unwrapped the bandages around my body. My skin and flesh was fully healthy, nothing seemed wrong. “Exc-cellent. Do you feel anything?”
“A little nauseated, that is about all.” I said. “How long was I out for?”
“Ah, it is-s regular, you will be fine once you walk around for a few minutes.” The Saurian replied. “You out for about half a day… you’ve made quite a s-speedy recovery even with s-such s-severe burns-s. New day medical ointments-s, s-stim-pack s-shots-s, and ancient healing hocus-s pocus-s really does-s the trick. Any questions before I let you go?”
“Know anything going on right now my friend?”
“We are obtaining s-some new equipment and cargo today, you should ask your partner for more on it later. You’re free to go.”
December then quickly opened the bad hanging around her waist as I stood up and the Saurian left to meet with a nearby medic. December was then holding a new pilot’s uniform. It was a black color with some dark blue coloring, it had white trims… There was also a new black helmet that looked intimidating, it had red lens covering the eyes that were retractable with the facemask. Everything seemed to be a more intimidating and smoother version of my former uniform, except with a complete change to the pilot’s helmet.
“Put on this new uniform.” December said. As I changed into the uniform, she explained. “It is a very similar uniform to the regular Air-Space universal outfit, like you had previously. These we just delivered today, fortunately after you had damaged and burnt off your older uniform. This model has a number of technical improvements.”
I snapped and zipped on my pants and under coating. They were very loose at first. I then saw a small button on the suit’s wrist computer and pressed it, and just then the outfit gently attached tightly, yet comfortably to my skin. My outer body temperature cooled a little, to very comfortable levels.
“If you noticed, this new suit contains inner cooling, which you can set up to a specific temperature by your wrist computer. This under suit also contains some resistance to penetrations of all universal sorts; it provides decent protection that might come in need. The belt holds slots that can be used to store some repair tools, that won’t get in your way. The boots as well can have gravity and anti-gravity functions”
“They are minor, yet useful and needed improvements.” I said. December smiled, and spoke as I placed on a loose large black and white trench coat with two shoulder pads. It had a large white circle with symbols at the side of them, revealing some of my tastes in my ancestral culture, as well as my nicknames that deal with the night and moons. At the bottom of the coat were white circular runic symbols.
“The Commander’s Coat is mostly for show, but it holds some uses. For one, only commanders like you may be able to wear this, and it will distinguish you from others… and it is the only thing that will match with your given helmet… Anyways, the side pouches are enhanced and can hold a number of tools and equipment. It also provides some protection as well like your older commander’s vestments. Mental capabilities and powers are also enhanced through enchantment.” She explained.
I looked up and noticed she was wearing a similar outfit to mine, perhaps to signify she was my partner. I also noticed her eyes were as red as the lens for my helmet, even though they were always that color. “Is that about all?”
“Well, I would tell you more… but I would have to kill you Commander.” December said.

Chapter IV-Special Delivery-
December stared at me with a serious look, as I looked in her eyes with confusion. She then broke a smile, and did a hearty chuckle. I did a slight laugh, and we both left for the airfield.
“So, what do you know of this?” I asked.
“We are getting deliveries today, as you can see. You remember the old idea of having those civilian construction mechas and military walker mechas upgraded, and making ones to those old cartoons and comic styled ones? Well, we are obtaining some bipedal prototype mechas today. You and I have been chosen as one of the numbers of pilots to test these experimental models.” December answered. “Once mass produced models have been made, we shall gain a custom versions, enhanced to your likings. Capability upgrades, paint jobs, everything that is possible for the model. Think like those customized Air and Space Crafts of yours Kyo.”
I thought of it in much interest. So they were able to make the more archetypical styled `Giant Robots’. Quite a revolution… but truly, what are the advantages to think of it? So I asked.
“Well, walker styled Mechas can’t fight very well in open space; they are more of just tanks with legs, so in space, they can only really fight while on surfaces. Don’t get me wrong though, they will still be able to match up against these new models in aspects. The walker styled classics holds a more powerful arsenal of weapons and can obtain heavier armor. The new Archetypical Mechas allow for more mobility in all terrains, and overall versatility, as said. They hold better capabilities for transformation, in which the Mecha can switch back and forth from its true form, and its vehicular form. These will give many different possibilities for many different situations to pilots during battle. Unfortunately, this transformation idea is still in conceptual stages, and won’t be built as a prototype for a long while. But, you are one of the few on the list to test these transforming mechs. Overall, the new Archetypical Mechas are more versatile and more mobile than their walker styled cousins.”
I looked at her with much interest in these new models once again; it is amazing, that something from my childhood and present-likings were becoming a reality. December and I walked onward to the airstrip, we saw a small number of experienced pilots, about three wearing customized Commander Coats, and one had a male android with a matching coat standing nearby him. I recognized all of these aces.
One was a young female Saurian with yellow hair and scales on her human face and faded blue eyes. She had no Saurian accent when she spoke human languages. This pilot was named Second Lieutenant Ninus Argnaz. She had on a dark red coat with black and yellow trimmings, her long tail was hidden in the within suit for protection, on her sides of her coat were black markings, shaped as a water drop and arrow. Her helmet on her side was horned and as intimidating like a Saurian’s actual war mask. She was known as Crimson Poison, and she leads the Bass Tongue squad.
Next was an old male Kappa that had long black hair on his head, a short beak, a long neck, orange skin tone and large shell that was covered by his suit. This turtle-like specimen was Major Reinzac Chilpad. He wore a teal uniform with bright green trimmings; a shape of a turtle shell could be made out on the designs on his coat. His helmet seemed to be that of a regular piloting helmet shaped specifically for his species; however it had more designs and colorings on it. Chilpad took much pride in his species; he was called the Greased Shell. Major Chilpad commands the highly known Swordfish squadron; he is also known to be extremely experienced in piloting a Military Walker Mecha.
Then there stood a middle-aged male Caucasian Ani-Hume that was called Captain Winston Wright. He had faded brunette hair and dog-like ears, dark orange eyes, and a goatee. His uniform was blue with white and cyan colorings. His side symbols were shaped as an eye with a lightning bolt iris, the Thunderhead. By his side dangled a helmet that also seemed to be those for regular pilots. He was leader of the Boulder Dash squadron. In the previous war, he was said to have shot down ten enemy aircraft along with two space cruisers in his Karomaz Command Air-Space fighter in a thunderstorm, thus earning him the name he has taken a liking to.
Finally, there was also Colorado, Lieutenant Ninus Argnaz’s human shaped partner android which wore a coat similar in design to that of Argnaz’s. He was a friend of December, as I would see them spending time here and there with one another. He had red hair and penetrating glowing blue eyes and they would leave an image in your mind for some time once you closed them, as though you just stared at the daytime star for sometime. He seemed to be a fully mechanical android.
For some androids, you actually can’t seem to tell the difference between them and regular creatures of the species they are based off of, of both regular ones and cyborg enhanced species. However, if you have high enough mental capabilities to deal telekinesis or ancient magical or spiritual arts as have I, you actually can simply tell if they are artificial by a single glance and pick them out in crowds. You can simply sense what is right, or wrong, or sense the different types of energies and such with given mental cultivations… quite really hard to explain…
Some androids, like December, are actually purely or at least slightly biological, yet they have been artificially made and produced. They are sometimes called Realians. December is at least seventy to a hundred percent biological, but her mind, being artificially produced, has the ability to access through data, when in contact with computers, which is how she can translate things on the spot at times. She also can control some machines, but only when she has direct contact with the control system, which is how she mostly helps me use evasive maneuvers and other movements when in vehicles. Despite these highly non-human abilities, she was still human to me and everyone around her, a true friend.
“Anyone there…?” December cracked through and waved her hand in front of me.
I shook my head. “Sorry, yeah,” I spoke out. I always thought too much at times, it was good and bad, usually bad because I don’t pay attention when I think of some things. Though, it was good since it kind of showed others that I held high intellect, however, some people would tease me and say I really fail to hold it at times.
December shook her head and turned away to her own thoughts.
“Alright guys.” A deep heavy voice was heard. It was the Base Commander. The large and muscular man got everyone’s attention straight away.
“Any moment now, we will be receiving our delivery of 14 of the prototype Federal M-Rieses 1. Two of which have been made to have a co-pilot, which will be for that of Colorado and December, with Lieutenant Argnaz and Lieutenant Shiba. You all being the best in this base will help test pilot these monsters right away, after sometime, you all will obtain the upgraded M-Rieses 2, once they have completed those mass produced versions, and the M-Rieses 1 will be used mostly, but not necessarily for training. Anyways, once we obtain the models, you all will turn on a quick simulation to learn some of the controls. Then we will do a field test. The controls are slightly similar to those of a Car and Air or Space Craft. So you all will be fine. Anycase, we all clear on that?”
“Yes sir.” We all replied.
“Good, just hang around here until then.” The Base Commander said.
It was literally about a minute later, Major Chilpad noticed several large new Carriers approaching us. There were about a lucky 7 of them. They were large and were a pure silver color. The seven Carriers then all landed one by one, and quickly aligned.

The Carriers all shut off their engines. There were large hangar like doors, which were to the back of them, opened. Each inside hangar revealed to carry 2 squatting mechas, there were areas set to hold 4 Air or Space crafts, but they were empty. Several men and women descended from the Carrier, they seemed to all be engineers and scientists, along with a handful of pilots, which were controlling the large Carrier crafts.
One female Ani-Hume approached the base commander. She had short pure white hair, and large rabbit like ears. She wore a white and blue uniform, symbols on her shoulders and blue cap explained she was a First Lieutenant. In her hands she held a digital clipboard. She saluted the base commander and spoke. “Colonel Kirkland, I am First Lieutenant Vierra. Looks we all will be staying here.”

Chapter V-Training-
We all approached the large mechas while accompanied with engineers telling which were assigned to us. The mechs were a white color; they had a large shoulder pad on the left arm, perhaps acting as a shield, it had the symbol of the MW Federation. They had bulged out chests, where the cockpit was placed. The mechs had heads with a single large camera eye. Engineers quickly pressed some buttons inside the carrier hatches and the mechs slowly elevated down on their support stands. The stands slid off the hatches and the mechs were then laying flat down on their back while still on the support stands. The support stands had large wheels on them, which seemed that they could be moved with supported by other large vehicles. The engineers walked up to the chest of the mechs and pressed a button, which then caused the chest to open and reveal the inside cockpit. Unlike the other mechs, the ones assigned me and Argnaz had two seats. Our co-pilots were to sit behind us and do as they usually do as in the air and spacecrafts. December and I entered our assigned mech, the engineer then showed us two buttons, and pressed the first. The first button closed the hatch to the mech’s cockpit, and second then turned on the mech. Several lights flickered on inside the mech and three large screens in front of me, and to the left and right flashed on and revealed the surrounding outside environment from the perspective of the mech’s head.
The cockpit was very much similar to that of an aircraft, but there were much more controls. A transmition portrait from Lieutenant Vierra appeared and instructed us to press some buttons. As we did that, our mechs sat straight up, no longer in lying on their backs. She then began to explain the controls.
There were two levers with many triggers and buttons; this was where pilots were mostly to use to control the mech with. The triggers attached were to make the mech’s fingers respond, used to make call signs or make the mech shoot its weapon if holding a gun. Moving these levers and using specific buttons on them could also move the body or arms of the mech. There were pedals, much like a car. One would cause the mech to walk or run, the other would leave the mech to a complete stop. Several screens indicated other aspects of important information for the mech.
I pressed down on a pedal and the mech stood straight up, I then pressed a button and the mech was then squatting, with similar to a knight bowing to a king. Lieutenant Vierra explained that this would be the position we should leave our mechs in when exiting them in safe areas, so it will be easier to enter the cockpit and ready it for combat or other actions.
“Alright,” Lieutenant Vierra said. “We will all participate in a simulation to try and get used to the controls more. Open the small panel to the top left, and press both buttons.”
I did so, and it led to a blank screen.
“Just a second,” a man’s voice was heard on the radio. The screen flashed and we were suddenly in an open field.
“Equipping weaponry,” The mechs were now holding what seemed to be a submachine gun in the right hand, and a long blunt blade extending from the mech’s left forearm to past its fists, similar to a brass knuckle perhaps.
“Ok… setting up targets.” Large bulls-eye targets randomly appeared on the digital field. “All of you, lets try to see if you can aim with your submachine guns properly.”
I moved the right lever a little and a crosshair on my screen aligned with a target. I pulled the index trigger and the mech fired some rounds onto the target and it shattered upon impact. I heard more gunfire, the other pilots were also shooting down the targets at a fast pace. I quickly emptied my ammunition clip, and the large magazine cartridge ejected from the digital machine gun. A button flashed, and I then pressed it. My mech then grabbed a cartridge from its back using its left hand and shoved it into the submachine gun.

“Excellent, now we seem to have a small hang of aiming and shooting.” Lieutenant Vierra said. “We will now test walking, running and using melee weaponry.”
Targets then appeared in front of us. We moved our mechs forward, pressing lightly onto the pedal would cause the mech to walk, and flooring it would cause it to run. We ran to the targets and all the mechs did simple punches on the dummies with aid of the large blunt blades to deal more massive damage.
There were many things the new mechs could do. Grabbing materials and placing or throwing them with aid of free hands. Specific actions could make the mech more fluid in motions, such as dodging bullets, lasers and other types of things that can deal harm. Thrusters could be used. Melee actions could vary depending on how you used the levers. It was in fact possible to allow the mech to kick, or deal different attacks for different possibilities during combat. Major Chilpad seemed to master everything greatly. Within a day or two, all the new mech pilots had learned all the basics of piloting these new machines, with some even mastering them.
It would still be a few weeks until the upgraded Federal M-Rieses 2 would be finished. But the military had already begun to use them Federal M-Rieses 1 for patrolling and other needs, including construction, and help with heavy cargo. This new technology had already become a major importance to the military within a few days.

Chapter VI-Briefing-
I pulled my arm back, holding onto the C-Stick, I just concentrated… I focused on the target in front of me and readied to strike it. I thrust forward and the target flew off the field.
“Shiba… you really, and I mean REALLY, suck at Pool.” Argnaz said in near disbelief. She sighed and grabbed the cue ball and placed it on the table.
“I mean, that is way too much force to even try to pocket that ball when it is that close to the hole.” Argnaz grabbed a cue-stick and aimed at the Eight-Ball. She focused slightly and shot it directly into a nearby hole.
“Game,” she announced and shook her head. She gave the cue-stick to a nearby crewman and walked off somewhere else.
Nearby crewmen chuckled. There were still five stripped balls left that I hadn’t pocketed. I sighed and gave the cue-stick to a male cyborg; his call sign was Haze who was in my squadron. He was standing next to his younger sister, who also had cybernetic enhancements. Mist and Haze both had entire reinforcements with some of their arms and legs. Haze seemed to however, also has a cybernetic torso. The rest of their bodies were biological. Just like some androids, some cyborgs seemed completely normal to their regular species, unless their enhancements weren’t disguised. Mist had her enhancements completely disguised, so with the untrained eye or mind sense, she looked completely normal. She had her left arm and right leg enhanced. Haze however, had both his legs with cybernetic properties, and his left arm with undisguised enhancements.
Daniel and Diana, their real names had told me, that when they were young, they were in a transport ship. The transport ship was being attacked by space pirates. They had breached the ship, killed the pilots and just about stole everything while taking on a ransom. However, something went wrong with the ship's engine and crashed nearby on land. Of the two-hundred passengers, only around fifty had survived. Mist, Haze, and three others were in need of limbs. The missing body parts couldn’t be found, and the spellbound healers not being powerful enough, couldn’t help reattach them. Cloning tubes for small organs and limbs weren’t in the nearby hospitals near there at the time unfortunately. So spellbound healers sealed their wounds, and they and their parents decided on getting cybernetic implants, which were much more useful in any case.
The main Saurian medic here in fact can heal them to where they would re-grow those parts in their bodies. Or they could use cloning and surgically reattach those parts. But they refuse, as they have grown so accustomed to their enhanced body parts
I watched Daniel aim at the cue ball and readied to do the break. He thrust the cue-stick with his non-cybernetic arm and the 16 balls scattered across the table. Another pilot then aimed and shot the cue ball, pocketing a striped red ball. “Solids then,” Daniel said to himself.
I walked off and sat on a couch next to December and relaxed a bit. She was reading an old Earth novel that I had read a week before, called The Great Gastby. It is a book that can reveal life in higher-classed America in the 1920’s Common Era. All the rights and wrongs of the time, the thoughts of the people, romance, just some hard and easy times in life.
“They still have no idea what is going on.” December suddenly said as she turned a page.
“Huh?”
“That Pliigan incident a few days ago, there still hasn’t been any confirmation of who they were. They can’t find the vessels or bodies. They only found damage on the reefs where we had crashed into.” December spoke out.
“Aye, I know…” I replied.
“It bothers my mind also sir…”
“Well, there are many possibilities. We aren’t too sure of what those biological vehicles can do. Perhaps they quickly healed and flew out of there.”
A man with a familiar deep voice spoke out, “Or perhaps when we shot them down, it is possible that the ships kind of self-destructed, and is why we can’t pluck anything out of the water,” it was Forrest, or his real name being Grant. He sat down and explained. “I mean, those weapons being acidic, and other strange forms of biology things, it could be possible that the vessels would disintegrate themselves with that very acid once the pilot is killed. Who knows?”
“Yeah, you’ve got something there Grant.”
“Either way, we’re most likely not going to find or figure out anything anytime soon. But there are always those instances.” He said. He relaxed on his seat and then sighed. “Man, you lucky aces get to use those new mechas. How I wouldn’t mind to try one out myself. Speaking of which…. are you still going to lead our squadron?”
I thought for a moment, I wasn’t too sure on this one. December, remembering and knowing things better than I do, answered for me.
“They say Shiba will lead two squadrons in fact, at times, leading both. They are doing all sorts of things. But basically, the Commander will use either a mech or craft whichever will be necessary, at other times, he will be able to choose whichever to use for the mission.”
Grant chuckled. “Seems complex… good luck on that,” he then stood up and strolled away.
December closed the book after placing a marking and stood up to stretch. At that moment, a number of people were called to get into the skies immediately, my squadron and Major Chilpad’s, along with some Special Forces troops and infiltration air vessel pilots.
I quickly slipped into my flight suit and coat, and ran together with December to our Karomaz Commander’s custom fighter, while followed by Daniel, Diana, Grant and Nadine, or Runite who rushed to their Nimo-Daras Flathead fighters. Major Chilpad was already able to take off, as he was in the hangar chatting to some of his crewmen that were repairing a training craft. I rushed to the hangars and jumped into my fighter with December. The Swordfish squadron flew off, and I moved my fighter onto the runway. I placed on my helmet and started the thrusters for the space craft. With a roaring sound, it zoomed forward. I pulled up and flew into the heavens, as the rest of my squadron then followed. A Special transport craft was being loading with a small amount of Special Forces troops.
“This is Swordfish 4. What is going on?” A male pilot said.
“This is Colonel Kirkland, sorry about that. There has been a recent emergency and we need you to head to this beacon. I will give you all an in-flight briefing.” The Base Commander said. “A large government transport ship has been said to be taken over by some space pirates, and they have taken the passengers hostage, some of which have been said to already been killed, so this is serious. The Special Forces will infiltrate the transport craft and try to kill or capture all the space pirates. Air squadrons will surround the infiltrated transport and escort it, to prevent any possible enemy fighters from interfering. Once the government transport has been secured, we will land it on Neres Airbase. You all can call for reinforcements whenever needed.”
I looked on my transmition screens and noticed that Daniel and Diana were thinking for a moment… Daniel spoke out, “This is Lunar 4, call sign Haze.”
My squad’s name was slightly changed so I could retain my nickname and call sign without too much confusion.
“We will make sure nothing happens.” He focused onto his controls and looked determined.
Those two pilots had told me… they were thinking of becoming bounty hunters to help rid the galaxies of pirates. Yet, instead, they became Federal Pilots.
