Cool stuff. I thought Google Sketchup was only for buildings. Of course, I've only ever used it once...

I seem to remember posting in this thread before... Anyway, I may have said it before, but you're seriously talented with Google sketchup. I'm good at making... tables. :(

9/10 - a better visualisation of the Mech then I could have imagined.
Am I allowed to use these images for wallpapers and other MSW promotional stuff?

Still very nice, even better now you've finished it. I'd say 9/10 because it is not perfecT(it can't be)

I didn't expect something this nice when I thought 3D render. You did very well. I've played around with Google Sketchup a few times and you have some talent. Better then I could have done in the same amount of time by far. Do you plan to make any others?

Actually if you tell me what angle (top front looking down, bottom left looking up, direct front looking up/down...) and where you would like the shadows (if at all) then I could give you a larger higher res image that would work better with resizing. Can also change the colors around and incorporate a background color or image directly into the rendering to save some time on cutting it out.
Edit: but yes to be clear, those images (along with any I post in the future) are open "exclusively" for MSW usage because if it wasn't for the images posted on MSW then I wouldn't have been inspired to do it at all.

I answered that question lol,
I used google sketchup (not just good on fries)
sorry I didnt clarify that it was actually the 3d app I used, it does sound like a drawing program by name.
Edit: Did I also mention that its free, punch it into google, and its a quick download for such a powerful program, however it doesn't have any filtering effect like reflective surfaces and such, but good for establishing a shape and scale, I think I may try my hand at a futuristic city or something.

A lot of the parts don't make sense, but hey, art doesn't have to.
You have talent.

thanks for the constructive feed back,
I dont take artistic over functionality and now looking at it i see where it lacks practicality.
On future pieces I will try to establish a little more functionality in the design, after all, its not like I am drawing mystical creates and such where those exceptions can be made right, and I do have the ability to make it sensibly functional looking atleast eventhough I have not figured out how to animate in GSU yet.
Again, thanks for the feedback.

Looks great!
You should take it further - maybe export it into something like Blender and have a go at some true rendering.
Or if you'd like to prolong it, I could import it into Project Utopia to see what it looks like in a game. Up to you.
How long have you been using Sketchup? Is this something you do regularly?

I just started using GSU that was my first rendering ever, I took an autocad class back in highschool, but I dont think any of those skills merged well over to sketcup considering all i did in that class was follow directions and only was allowed to use the command prompt to build for the first semester. I'm finished with that project however if you would like the project file to mess around with it a little more i could zip it and send it to you, it relatively small, I have started on a project that interests me far more than that one (saying a lot considering my love for mechs). its a simple project but makes me take more techniques into consideration to make it look clean and smooth, ill post the wip on it this afternoon.
And I plan on making something that I do regularly, it hass gotten me really excited considering the only thing I have ever done in the way of art was drawing, pastels, and photoshop collages and alterations.
but yeah let me know if your interested and I'll kick the raw file your way.

Awesome job, If a vechile like that is in Mechscape, I would love blast up buildings and whatever the monkey with that thing.

Btw, I think it would be cool if the glass was transparent so you could see a little dude driving it?

I've always found Google SketchUp fun to work with... Looks pretty good, I guess. Google SketchUp is so easy to use, I wish it was more compatible with other programs. Good, dude, 7.5/10!

Cool that's really impressive. I've used SketchUp a couple of times to help with CAD drawings etc. for my D.T and they didn't come even close to your drawings. You've got a real skill there, you should keep at it and maybe even go down the road of putting more curves etc into it. Keep it up!!!
P.S. Did you use SketchUp pro or the free version?
P.P.S. Give it to Dan to use in Project Utopia
P.P.P.S. Did you render it in SketchUp as well, as those renders are much better than any I've managed to find!
