Just found the above in a magazine from August 2008. I think it was for ThirdScape because they were hiring for a Head of ThirdScape around that time and not a Head of MechScape, and neither MechScape nor RuneScape would truly count as a "new world".

As stated elsewhere I suspect that this relates more to the concept of the Head of MMO creating "a new world" (the game) instead of it indicating that ThirdScape will be a Sim-City game.

As ads go I think it is a pretty cool one. Note: The "MechScapeWorld.com" is just a watermark, Jagex are not advertising MSW!

Nice! It looks very interesting, and there's much to discuss about it. If it's thirdscape, it looks like it's gonna be split into the "good" and the "evil" side or something. And the thing about "building the world", do you think it means Jagex making the game, or players building uo the world (in some way)? Very, very interesting

To add onto what someone else said, Ah ha, a clue, now its time to go to my handy dandy thinking chair, with my handy dandy clue pad and put together all the clues and figure out what it means =P bow bow bow (blues clues)

I think that the concept is "since ThirdScape is a new game you, as head of this MMORPG, would be instrumental in creating it". The partially built world "under construction" (with crane) represents the fact that you would be in charge of making not just a new game, but a new virtual world. So the graphic ad tagline would be saying nothing about the gameplay, and everything about the Head of MMORPG and their role as a "world builder".


Jagex could always have hired an ad firm to make it. They do have lots of graphics artists, tho.

The ad itself doesnt say much about the game, but its a very nice ad nonetheless. I'm gonna go on a limb and say thirdscape might be "Sim City" type of game.

Maybe ThirdScape will be something more like Second Life. (They said they were looking into mirco payments.) I'm not sure of they even know what they are doing yet but that's what I essentially what I piece together from the ad.

It should be mentioned (again, as Ren already has) that the image & text are meant to be taken metaphorically.
Anywho, 'tis indeed a nice simple ad - I like it. :)

One of the questions asked to Mod Mmg was, quote,

Does this mean that Thirdscape is a myth? No, right?

EDIT: I was browsing those questions again and another one was:

"Are you working on a game called Vegascape?"

Mog Mmg: "No."

Just putting that out there...Probably old news.

There was RuneScape Classic and then RuneScape 2 (which we currently play). He was most likely refering to redoing RuneScape and not ThirdScape.

Now that highly interests me, Defo have to look into it more.
