Thats the first time I recall a price put on the salary for a lead designer, is it not usually: "£very Competitive"?

Still no infomation on content so would assume it's at base development stage..... probaly be a year or so till we get solid infomation dribbling out. However as aimed at pre-teens, I would think the depth of the game will be a lot lower and the game smaller..... meaning it may be under a year till we get some major glimpses.

You are correct. Interestingly I keep track of salaries for the salary thread on Gower Archive. Sometimes when they don't state a salary on Jagex.com I have managed to find it listed on job vacancy websites.

I expect they'll put a lot less effort into ThirdScape than MechScape and allow it to grow more organically.

...Just noticed the line "Experience with vocal and location recording." from the Audio Developer vacancy.

On some of the funorb games they have started to use some live recorded vocals

QUOTE (Mod Ian)
Hi all, and thanks for the interest in the sound effects!

We use different techniques to achieve different results: some games like star cannon use synthesized voice sounds produced with a clever piece of software, in most others there are recordings of various Jagex staff in their alter-egos of Torquing hamsters (Laura from graphics), Arcanist rock golems (Me! - not im not natively from Eastern Europe), Wizard Run wizard (Mod Dylan from Runescape development) Terraphoenix radio communications (mod Dan.A from audio), etc. processed accordingly for the right effect.

There is a surprisingly large amount of development work that goes into all the games, even the simpler ones, and audio is certainly included in that.

Listen out for many more vocal recordings in the future!

I would not be surprised however if they incorporate limited vocals for Thirdscape depending on how young their audience is.
