Has anyone heard about Nano?

Try to write a 50k word novel in a month.
Has anyone heard about it or was in.?

I've heard of it but have never participated. Maybe some day I'll get around to it. Lately I've focussed on poetry instead of novels.

I'm not too interested in participating but reading some of the stories would be sweet. I know I can write 50k words... it's just a matter of not wanting to.

I would rather talk about something and inform someone then tell a story.
