Has anyone here ever read To Kill A Mockingbird?

I was assigned to read it in English and at first I thought it was going to be a horrible book. I was VERY mistaken, as I find TKAM one of the best books I have read in awhile. It is filled with life lessons, and overall a very good read.

If you have never read it I highly recommend you do so.

I read that in 8th grade. I was just as surprised as you when I read it. I thought it was going to be a piece of crap to read and then like a third through I started to like it a lot. I love how clever the title is and the ending is. I would read it again if I had the time but I have no time for it at present.

Same experiences here. As a Freshman I had to read it for my English class. I figured it would be really boring, but I started to really like it. That's not true for a lot of the people in my class, though.

Read the book in 5th grade, along with Lord of the Flies (I thought LoF was about a man and some animals, which in a sense, is true). It was OK. It's been quite some time (almost 6 years), Maybe I should read it again? happy.gif

Yeah, if you read it when you were that young I would recommend you reread it, especially since you might understand more about the book.

I too have read the book. I too was assigned this in like 7th grade. I too enjoyed it. Its been like 7 years since then though so I dont really remember it other than I know it was really good and it was worth reading.

Freshman, high school, gifted English for me! Same with me, it looked like one of those 1950's book list books that everyone despises but it is actually not bad at all. And I don't like to read. The title is very clever though, and a lot of life's lessons can be pulled from it. It was a good read for sure.

It was one of those books which I was forced to read in school. It was a well written book with some great messages, but I couldn't really connect with it or find it all that intresting. Nor could i bring myself to read it a second time. And, as for the movie, I found it to be quite blah too.

Ah, To Kill A Mockingbird, another one of those wonderful books I read for literature in 8th grade. I know at the local public school they read it in 9th grade, but I wouldn't want to read it there. My literature class we really took the book seriously and looked at the imagery in the book, it was such a good reading, albeit it did have a rather slow start but once you got into it, it was just one of those books that was written well.
