ENTRY 2

Title/Desc: "I call this the mages table , I had a good time maging w/ my friends in runescape. The comets that strike the table represents the impact of the past I had through runescape on me and my friends. This impact spreads and impacts others even more. Eventually this will allow others to grow."

ENTRY 3

Title/Desc: "Scratchdown. A mechanical woman."

ENTRY 4

Title/Desc: "A hand drawn picture that was scanned and colored digitally with GIMP. It is of how I hope MechScape may be, the character in the front is my "MechScape-nized" character. He is wearing a commander's armored pilot-coat, and holding his helmet in his left hand. The large mecha in the background belongs to him. This picture dipicts my character in the hangar, on an elevator thingy. Took me a few days to figure out what to do, was tricky using no reference for a hangar and elevator thingy, wasn't sure if this is qualified, as I am not so sure on the 2nd requirement stating fanart based material."

ENTRY 5

Title/Desc: " Kamikaze M-120. A special speedy aircraft, for two people maximum. with special booster and homing missile to breakdown enemy's building. Designed for "one hit and run" mission."
Link to Topic

ENTRY 6

Title/Desc: " A sketch of myself. Yes I do have a lazy eye, but still, the right one is a bit off. Not the best sketch you would get, but I actually like it, and I'm satisfied with it. I'm not even that good at art, this is the first time I actually concentrated and spent some time on it. And my scanner blows too, I had more shading done..."

NOMINATED WINNERS (3) : ENTRY #1, #2, #5

- Most Colourful: Entry #3
- Most Emotional: Entry #2

Category 1, Entry 1:
Judging Rubric
Creativity: 35% / 40%
Originality: 13% / 20%
Skill: 15% / 30%
Effort: 10% / 10%
--------------------
83% / 100%

Entry 1 looks like it has taken a long time to complete, so it is getting high marks on creativity and a full score on effort. A lot of effort has gone into thinking the design through. I don't see many mistakes.
My complaint is the pencil used was unsharp and thus made the lines fuzzy and light. This gives it the look of an unrefined sketch. There is also no shading. It gives me the impression it was the unrefined "first draft" sketch for a work that is to be painted or coloured later.

Category 1, Entry 2:
Judging Rubric
Creativity: 40% / 40%
Originality: 15% / 20%
Skill: 20% / 30%
Effort: 9% / 10%
--------------------
84% / 100%

With a good score, this entry is getting high marks on creativity. I find it very creative and time-intense. Skill involved is also showing, and it includes nice shading and foreshortening to give the piece depth. The main drawback is the lack of focal point. The eye is drawn everywhere in an attempt to make out the piece.

Category 1, Entry 3:
Judging Rubric
Creativity: 30% / 40%
Originality: 17% / 20%
Skill: 10% / 30%
Effort: 8% / 10%
--------------------
65% / 100%

The best part of this piece is the understanding of facial anatomy and the hair. Everything else does not thrill me. The biggest no-nos: Use of blur and smudge tools. The other no-nos include the pixelation in the piece, and the use of burn tool. The concept and creativity involved is almost there, but the lack of skill in Photoshop digital painting shows too greatly to offer this any reasonable merit.

Category 1, Entry 4:
Judging Rubric
Creativity: 25% / 40%
Originality: 10% / 20%
Skill: 18% / 30%
Effort: 10% / 10%
--------------------
63% / 100%

I originally loved the pencil version of this, but the coloured version has fell flat. The use of blur and burn tools here have ruined it. The anatomy is correct for the most part, but it's the colouring dragging it down.

Originality: 10% / 20%
Skill: 30% / 30%
Effort: 10% / 10%
--------------------
70% / 100%

I like this picture. Very skilled colouring, the shadows flow. This getting FULL MARKS in skill and effort. The downside is that it is too common. There are countless jetted vehicle concepts, and this one didn't wow me. Still, though, I very much like this entry.

Well, the anatomy is good. The skill level is beginner. I don't find this entry too particularly thrilling and I wish this artist good luck, and more practice on the skill. The image is blurry and the pencil marks show. No refining has gone into this entry.

Very nice art here, reminds me of a few artists past though. I will give it high marks for creativity though.

This is my favorite at this point. Most creative, and the scan does not do it justice. This would be great blown up on a wall to be absorbed into.

I like it and at the same time I feel it could have been better. You have really fine detail in some areas, and in others the face appears to be melting away. Almost reminds me of a Dali painting in some parts, great creativity, great shadow effects, and composition, the glowing orb that appears to be coming out of his face ruins it for me a bit, otherwise good effort.

I have to agree with a few others here, the blur does not work well in this area. I get what you are trying to do, give it that steamy foggy feel to it, Robotech used to do that in it's anime, but for a standalone sketch with color it seems to be lacking. Maybe if you used that blur/steam type feel only in a few areas- coming up from vents it would have worked better. You would have received much higher marks as a sketch only( most likely).....

Not bad, but not great. You definitely have the skill and put the effort into it. I would have added different colors maybe, make it more vivid, sharper contrasts would have made this into the best here.

Good effort for one of your first sketches. Read some books on shadow effect, and the use of gray scale. Some lines need to be heavier, more pronounced.
