Nice. They first advertised for the position of Portuguese Translation Team Leader in June 2008. Now for RuneScape...

I wonder if they're ever going to make a Chinese version of their products. Unless they're going to stay clear away from that language due to the fact that it could attract 10x the amount of Gold Farmers. So this leaves French and Portuguese for RuneScape. Next on the list is probably Spanish or Swedish.

I remember one of them saying they could make one for India, can't find link though.

Q: Would you consider taking RuneScape to Asia?

Geoff Iddison: We do plan to go East with it to the Asian market and the Eastern European market too.

Q: What are the challenges in those markets?

Geoff Iddison: China, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, they're all different markets. There are markets in Asia that are more relevant to RuneScape than others. RuneScape is not for Japan, but it could work well in Malaysia for example. And where's India in all this? I think RuneScape is a game that would be adopted in the english-speaking Indian world and the local-speaking Indian world. We're looking at all those markets individually. Payment options are very, very crucial in this as well. You can't go into China and only accept credit cards and dollar subscriptions, it doesn't work that way. Each of the payment options and relationships with payment providers needs to be localised, as does the content of the game.

That's it. Thought it was also Singapore but wasn't sure.

^^Also, you can't just translate a game and expect it to work with other cultures. Sometimes what would appeal to someone in Japan or China wouldn't be anything sane in USA or UK. That's one of the harder things about making a global game, you have to create it so that it appeals to so many other cultures while not bringing up things that some might consider just wrong.
