When I joined RuneScape...

I remember when I first started RuneScape. I was around twelve at the time and of course I was not totally legal to play. Regardless, I wanted to play. I just wanted to see what this cool game was. The graphics were poor but that did not matter to me. I wanted to play a game and this one loaded quickly and did not require any install or long download time. It was also free, the one major factor between playing a game of this type of not.
I spend more time registering and trying to pick the perfect name then loading the game. I did not want a name that was too overpowering or too soft. I did not want something that people would make fun of me for or make me too unique. Of course, I was in the mindset of a ten year old where school events were everything. I settled with the name De Max1. This name stated my feelings of wanting to be the best of the best. It was also something that people could easily understand and see. I simply came up with this username to show who I wanted to be in this game. The only reason I ended with a one was simply for the reason of that being taken. Not wanting to spend too much longer on this I agreed to that username.
Upon entering into the game I was met by the tutorial island. By this time I had to get off and I signed back in the next day to continue. This tutorial took me quite a while and at the time I was the only one entering into the game. So I was alone and didn't have anything to show me visually what to do. I read everything very carefully and probably spent twice to three times as long as an average person who went through it for the first time.
The parts that I liked the most was the mining and smithing tutorial. I had images in my head that I would soon be at the top making all types of items for everyone and at the same time have respect and honor. Combat followed this and I liked it but it was not as appealing to me. Soon I was through the rest of the tutorial and was delivered to Lumbrage.
Upon arrival I was amazed. I probably spent several minutes just exploring the castle and the immediate area around the inner walls. I had all of my things with me and I did not think anything but great things. When I finally made up my mind that I was going to start mining so I could train my smithing skill, I was lost. So I started to ask around for anyone who would be kind enough to show me a mining place. I was oblivious at the time to the cruel world around me. The first person I met and was interested to taking me to a mining place. He was very kind to me. Soon we were off to the mining location that he was so willing to show me.
I was extremely impressed by the size of the game world and I was more distracted with looking at everything then watching where I was being taken. He met all of my questions that I had and I do not remember any questions he did not know. The time it took before we arrived to our location was really long, or at least it seamed that way to me.
Before I realized what the wilderness was or what pking was. I was attacked and killed at that spot he took me to. This group was laughing and calling me words that I did not know the meaning at the time such as noob. I pleaded and ran in the game but by the time I started to run I was dead. I felt down in the pits. The lowest of the low. I felt like complete mud. I never logged into that account again. I was killed in the wilderness within fifteen minutes of leaving tutorial island for the first time. Cruelty and decoy of RuneScape was learned harshly.
