I just noticed something interesting; for a while MechScape.com wouldn't load, but now it
does load and shows a 404 error. I'm not sure if this is significant or not, but it might mean that Jagex is starting to build the MechScape website.

Great... I would expect them to put up a site then within the next month. Up until now there's been no reason for them to have a server handling page requests for a site that doesn't exist.

Yes, I think we might be getting close to a release announcement.
I believe its had an IP in the Jagex ip-block since August, meaning the MechScape website release seems imminent (before the end of Septmember) - at least I hope that is the case (by release I mean a splash page, as was with funorb). Them launching the site might not mean they'll launch the beta, but it'd be awesome if we had it so much sooner than expected (but fairly unlikely considering the lack of hype)

Oo, interesting stuff!
I imagine they'll probably take the FunOrb route again, for a short while at least, in that they just release a single teaser page of what's to come. Looks like we might start getting some substantial news before Christmas though. Good stuff.

Indeed. The fact that they are about to launch the site doesn't mean they'll be launching the "website proper".

Awesome stuff! This is exciting, really hoping for an earlier release than early 2009.

Perhaps, Jagex thought that the release of MechScape would be a better suited gift for Christmas then a emote?

Haha, good thought, I too have noticed that the Error 404 page came up but I did not know that signaled an imminent release, sounds exiting. I doubt as Ren said that they'll launch the full website, maybe just launch a page with some concept art or a wall paper style background (similar to the RS screen-savers/wallpapers). With perhaps a small teaser of what is to come.

Releasing the site won't change the release date, it just shows they will show their site for Mechscape..
I don't expect news until December (at earliest).

That is cool I wanted that to happen
So i don't really get this website though is
it like a MySpace Facebook type thing or a Runescape where you actually play.
That is all just wondering kind of curious
Platupus
P.S. How many people actually have a Mechscape account

This site is a fan site, "Jagex fan site" you may call us now, but when MechScape World comes out we will
be officially a "Mechscape World fan site." I am not really sure what the admins have in store for us in the
future maybe they will have guides, and things like that open, but for now we only have forums.
A lot of us are pretty sure that name will just transfer from RuneScape so you will have your same
name, same password, same name.

They do tend to go for big releases over Christmas although I do not expect the release of Mechscape to be related to any RuneScape updates as they do have seperate teams working on them, I may be wrong though.

I would be looking for one of those amazing splash pages again. Hopefully they will release Mechscape like FunOrb so I get a nice head start for figuring out what is what. :P

I think we will be using the names we use for both RuneScape and FunOrb. So really the only advantage of that would be to play the game earlier than the majority of people.

Well, even though its giving a 404, that doesn't indicate anything about a site being built, there could have been a simple change in hosting, or a change with the domain, you shouldn't automatically assume that anything has changed about the actual site.

Not sure if that has been mentioned before. If not, its a great find to show that the website may actually be under constuction.

That's really interesting; the fact that it redirects from mechscapehq.com to mechscape.com
They're likely to do that with all the other Mechscape-related domains that they own closer to the time Mechscape is going to be released in the first quarter of 2009.

I noticed this as well. I thought, "hey, they're getting ready!"
Soon we will be able to find random images by changing the urls from "runescape" to "mechscape" :P
^ at the poster above:
Yeah, I recognized it on Mechscape. It's kind of a lame 404, doesn't fit in with he theme, but it's what they got.

As far as we can tell the domain wasn't connected to a server before now, and since hosting costs money this might indicate that Jagex is getting ready to launch MechScape.com

Sorry, miss worded that. Yes the domain may be connected to a server now, but that does not mean that its being built, if all of the jagex domains give this error, then it doesn't appear to show anything. Just in my opinion.

Yeah, you're right. I don't know if this is significant or not, but we can hope.
