MechScape World > MechScape / Stellar Dawn > MechScape / Stellar Dawn Confirmed News

It seems 14-15-680-57358519 included a mention of MechScape. Seems like it was Mod Jon H said "Both games will be regularly updated by sepahttp://www.mechscapeworld.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2422&hl=#rate development teams, so you don't need to worry. RuneScape is here to stay" in response to the question "will you abandon Runescape for mechscape. Or will you update them both evenly. Because i will prefer evenly"... but I'm not sure since the thread has been moved. Anyone got a copy?

The page I linked to was the one where they mention a J-Mod post in another thread. The other thread is now "moved" and inaccessible.

I guess they still want to keep things very hush hush, seems strange that they haven't tried to advertise the game more.

That's probably being done so that 1/8th of the RuneScapers don't go on to a fake MS website. They'll probably start advertising it as soon as there's an official site that they can link people to.

Simply to keep their members from quitting because they input their password in a scam site :P.

It's already happening, which is why I believe they need to announce Mechscape on the RS homesite.

That is true. However, if they announce it, what most believe to be rumors will become fact. This will cause many more to look for MechScape sites. The more looking for MechScape sites, the more that will get scammed and hacked. After all, 500,000+ don't view the forums on a daily basis. However, 500,000+ view the main page on a daily basis. (I do not have proof of those statistics. However, seeing over 200,000 people playing at one time makes me believe at least half of a million view the main page often :P).

Not if Jagex makes it remotely clear about what they're saying

---main page----

Hello there RS community blah blah you may have heard about Mechscape blah blah it is true, we are developing it blah blah. All sites about playing Mechscape and asking for your RS passwords are scams just to hack you. don't enter your RS password anywhere else but here.

See, it's that simple.

I'm not so sure. Certainly, it would prevent a large number of players from such scams but it would also make aware to hackers/scammers that they could utilise this new achilles heel. I'm more than certain that curiosity would get the best of many players, perhaps not yourself, but some will fall for it. Also you would be surprised how few people know about mechscape as it is. The Mechscape topic on RSC is flooded with replies such as "wth is mechscape??!?", and these are some of the more senior players in the game. So for now, I think Jagex are taking the best possible route.

Well, it's possible that jagex are keeping it secret for the good of everyone. Take the graphical update, for example. When i found out there was a graphical update about to happen, i was chomping at the bits to see it, and even i was annoyed to find out i had to wait a mere 2 months. Imagine if they had announced they were working on it 1 year ago. Players would get very excited, then eventually get frustrated and impatient. If jagex keep mechscape secret, players will be extremely excited and will be really happy that they didn't know about it so they don't have to have something to wait for. They can play it right here right now! Although i'm quite content with runescape right now. I also agree with the site scams, but i think it's a more unlikely thing. Jagex could just put a message up on the real mechscape website stating that all other websites are fake and scams and that the game will be released in full at a certain date.
Oscar
In my opinion Jagex keep things hushed up to add both suspense and excitement to their games. I mean, imagine if no one had heard about Mechscape until the day it was released. How exited would everyone be? There are many reasons companies keep things hushed up. Another reason is that, if Mechscape doesn't turn out to be as popular as RuneScape, they can remove it from the market without too much company embarrassment

Finally now its confirmed that MechScape is finally coming out. Still i think march is way too long.
Zingy
Wow Jagex is really keeping this sealed up.
