If you want to hire an awesome concept artist then look no further than former Jagex employee Tom Woode.

http://www.tomwoode.com/

Lots of his concept and other artwork seems very Mechscapey, and some of it has Jagex copyright. Its nice to see his website is no longer down, and even better than it seems to have new graphics!

Re-read his old CV:
QUOTE
Jagex produce on line java games. I was originally employed to work on 'Rune Scape' a MMORPG currently with 4,000,000 users (of which over 800,000 are Paying members). I have more recently moved to the role of Lead concepter for a exciting new MMORPG title currently in development.
...
Establishing a style guide covering all visuals for new Jagex MMORPG. Includes characters, environments and interfaces.

Ensuring styles are kept consistent throughout all stages of development. Ensuring all team members are aware of our products aesthetic aim and are creating the work necessary to produce the product on schedule.

Producing plan sheets for concepted characters and equipment. Advising modellers and animators on original concept idea. Surveying characters/props from concept to completion for consistency.

Supervising and advising concept team, giving motivational direction to lead environment artist and lead modeller.

Producing designs and plans for all in game vehicles (a few hundred ). Ensuring all vehicles are original, look great and have an equal and sustained level of development.

And compare it to his new "toned down" CV:
QUOTE
Jagex producer of the hugely successful online MMORPG runescape. Throughout my employment paying membership grew massively from 4000 members to 1'200 000. With over 5'000 000 free to play active accounts.

Jagex employees have to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement, so it seems unlikely.

It also applies to ex-employees? Also, why is he no longer part of the Jagex team?

Sorry if I've overlooked the answers, just something I was wondering.

Yes (well he signed it when he was an employee but assumably it doesn't expire). Jagex entrusts its employees with confidential information on the basis that they keep it secret.

He moved to Australia last year and Jagex don't have an Australian branch.

Check their website: "With 3 offices altogether - 2 in Cambridge and 1 in London, Jagex has over 350 employees".

They probably worked in a department which didn't have a London presence. For example, London could be more focused on the administration side of it.
Arain
oh that explains it
