If you're actually trying to speak French...it's 'les effets de particule'
And yeah, that sounds likely...hopefully more to the update than that though. Heaven knows looking prettier isn't what Mage needs most.

Lol okay. I should have caught that, or at least the Spanish part...growing up in south Texas you pick up quite a bit (not racist, it's a fact)

It's either a spell check for Runescape or a graphical update on spells, most probably the latter. A graphical update will be cool, they're not looking as good as other things.

I think that increasing the blocked dictionary is good. People need to learn that cursing isnt necessary to get a point across.
But a graphics update for spells is long overdue, especially due to the massive leap they took makin rs more realistic. Rs2 already looked pretty awesome comparin to its predecessor, Rs Classic.
Spell check for a game.. not exactly necessary, but they ARE british, so if they want to, I won't stop them. At least make it mandatory, see how that goes over.

They said in the content team a small new spell was coming out, so probably that + some other thing.

Yeah, I was kinda joking about the whole spell check idea. Most people would just ignore it anyways if it were ingame.
The forums, on the other hand, might benefit from this.
If it
is a spell check, I'm guessing a lot of the Americans will be annoyed because it would be for UK spellings.

The hints are disappointing. They make you think it'll be something awesome and then it isn't. Just look at last week. We had people speculating about new quests, skills etc and then we get a lephracaun you can kill once.
It's just like Behind the Scenes each month. They hype it up, and it falls on its face.

It might be spell check after all. I don't really care if it is British English, that's better than all of the other random gibberish that people type. But I don't think it will be spell check; they've had problems with the chat filter, imagine how much trouble they will have if they try to rewrite your words!
CaptainPsycho

Agreed. Spell check is completely unreasonable, especially in game. The amount of programming required would take forever to type let alone come up with. It makes my head hurt just thinking of the algorithms. Ugh..

Actually implementing spellcheck would be very easy, it just isn't worth the time investment.

yeah, the british english would kill.... honour pkers, I want to buy some rune armour.... not gona happen. but I did like the way that for some entries into the notes tab they change it to something funny. (like andrew comes out to "cabbage" i think.)
plus I like the ability to go around saying things incorrectly on purpose, and its funny to watch noobs go around "phr33 st00f pl0x"

Particle effects on spells seems a good guess, but there will be more than that of course, this hint is quite a specific one, sometimes they hint at several different things.

Why just limit it to spell checks?
We need the Spelling Skill!
Each word or sentence you spell right, you get xp.
The longer the word, the better the xp.

A part of the reason BtS was done away with was to eliminate false hype...but it just happens again. The only way to avoid this is full disclosure, but Jagex would never do that, no, heaven forbid.

Judging by the last update hint it wouldn't suprise me if it was a built in dictionary that no-one will ever use...
Hope it is a magic spells update though

Yeah but when they say "And this month we'll release our brand new RTS "Mobilising Armies"" and then in half a year it finally comes out, and sucks, the whole hype is ruined.
The BTS and Twitter hints raise expectations which fall down because the update is not as good as everyone thought it would be. They removed it to prevent such hype.

The hype is player generated, most should know by now that anything more than cautious optimism is unwise.

Honestly couldn't you blame jagex for the let down expectations? When was the last update that was truly "awesome"

It was made by
RSDev, I doubt one team would be assigned for creating a spell checker for all chat systems across all Jagex services. That's like telling the school janitor to judge a speech in engineering.

The (hypothetical) persons assigned to the task of creating a spell checker would obviously be qualified for the job.
