Is the above posts the "spam" you were talking about am64360?
Very clever... replying to each post individually... when there is a multi-quote button(called quote, lights up red to show you've selected that post)...
There is? Sorry, not a pro on that... tried it and it epic failed on me. Besides, each person can read only what I wrote to them... lol

The funny thing with the system is you could just spam to rank up. (Not that I've done that...

)
The system is flawed, but what are the ranks for really? Nothing but to distinguish the moderators and active members in the communitee.
Right... the difference between a MSW Member++++ spammer and me is they are more active? Yer...
Not that I'm spamming... but yeah, I got promoted to MSW Member++

All MSW Member++++ are not spammers, the reason why they were still around to get that many posts is because they do not spam, but rather write out well-thought out, meaningful posts. You get 'promoted', if you will, on the number of posts you have. Because you past the 50 post mark, you became a member ++. When you pass the 100 post mark, you become a member +++, and finally when you pass the 1000 post mark, you become a member ++++. Of cause you could become a moderator, staff or donor if you either decided to donate some money, put down your name for a staff position (the forums are in need of no staff at the moment), or are awesome enough to get picked for moderator.
That post was a bit ambiguous, I wasn't hinting at anyone.
QUOTE (Drachen @ Nov 13 2009, 12:14 AM)

I voted admin and I've been here for over 2 years.
Why do you think you can just register and gain ranks? You're not participating in the forum if you're not posting
Soo... my schedule gives you that idea... I had a tight schedule and only got around to opening it only recently.
QUOTE (Dirk @ Nov 13 2009, 12:31 AM)

How long you've been here has nothing to do with it. The basic member ranks are mainly, but not solely, based on post count. To get anything above that you have to contribute to the community, show maturity, be active, and be able to do it all it consistently.
What I've done for the community... hmm... can I skip that? Show maturity... yeah, I posted this topic in a mature, non-flaming manner.

be active... quite strangely, that's what I intend to do but had no time to do...
Be able to do it all consistently... yeah... I can do that
Loads of responses... how to respond to all of them, I don't know. This isn't a complaint, this is a question and an interesting fact to discuss.

QUOTE (HeartFlame @ Nov 13 2009, 01:04 AM)

This totally matters.
Yep it does. Since it shows that a Myrune -> Mechscapeworld veteran usually isn't seen as high ranked as a person who has been here 2 weeks, but that's just me.

QUOTE (Aslancsc @ Nov 13 2009, 01:12 AM)

you could totally have like 5 thousand posts if you were an active member in the community. I must admit that my first 100 posts were mostly non-community oriented, but I tried not to spam. I just looked at every single topic that I wanted to say something about and said it.
Gah, stupid mind reader... that's what I did in Rants in a bit of free time while on the RS forums, mainly due to a bit of trouble finding enough to make a decent uh... appearance? in the MSW community... Good to be back though.

QUOTE (unorclan @ Nov 13 2009, 01:22 AM)

I could just repeat everything everyone has said, because yeah, they are right. It's post count, but not just post count but more about just being active in the community.
Edit: Ahhh, you don't have my "rank" on there.
Retired.
Guess I can't vote now.
Which do you prefer, facepalm or facedesk? -facepalm-
I failed lol... just vote for MSW Member++++?
QUOTE (Mcharger @ Nov 13 2009, 01:53 AM)

I've only been here since like May, but I'm still a Member++++, it just means I post more often, and no that doesn't make me a spammer.
So, that must mean I'm not spamming with all these replies then...
The amount of replies to this is amazing, I didn't expect this big a return when I posted this...

Lol? It's not flawed at all. You obviously get ranks for being active. It's not like ranks actually mean anything.
As for it being flawed because you can spam to rank up. Does "Banned" mean anything to you? It's not like the mods just let you spam to increase your post count...
Man... I forgot about those lol

QUOTE (That guy)
Nothing but to distinguish the moderators and active members in the communitee.
They're to distinguish Moderators, Admins, Staff, and our most active members, exactly. Thus, they aren't useless -- They have a very defined purpose.
You get to being a blue member by accruing 1000 posts (Or in
very very very rare cases an Administrator may make you a blue before you reach 1000. However, only two people have ever had this happen; one is a former site admin and the other, well, it was a fluke that wasn't reversed because it wasn't a big deal and they're an active member anyway.)
And if you're curious how this MC guy became moderator, I fucked the admin. Literally.
Eww, don't fuck the admin!
In the following quote, please scroll over to find out what I edited. This isn't spam, you're just incompetent in finding what I made out of it. NO, THIS WILL NOT RHYME.

Edd our senior mod is member number 2. He is the oldest.
But he is not active.
Oh, so he ranks higher... lol...
Yeah, no doubt he should be anyways.
QUOTE (Max @ Nov 13 2009, 05:12 AM)

It's not all about post count. Staff and ranks higher are taken through a process to get there.
Being just active in the community will increase your post count because you are responding to others and such. I really wouldn't see it as much as posting as much as just being proactive in the community. I'm more of a rep guy then post guy even though I look like a lier due to my post count.
Yeah you kinda do, but I get what yer saying...

I think the post count gave you that little "experienced" next to your moderator status
No it didn't.
Gave him moderator-ship though. :P
The only moderators that really didn't depend mostly on activity (post) was the first ones in, like Edd.
What about maintaining it? lol
