Following on from
my recent dev blog about our ideas for RuneScape Classic, we are delighted to offer everyone the opportunity to try Classic for themselves! For two weeks starting from today, Classic is open for new sign-ups from RuneScape members only.
If you access Classic during this two-week period (using your normal username and password), you will continue to be able to do so after the two weeks are over. If, however, you do not, you will miss out on the chance to do so, so give it a try.
There are 15 members' worlds, one of which will be left as being only accessible to those veteran Classic players who have stuck with it all the way through.

RuneScape Classic is the predecessor to the current RuneScape game. It was closed to new members over four years ago, but we want for players to be able to try out this important part of our history. We also have potential further plans for Classic (as discussed in
this blog), so another reason for this re-opening is to see how many people are interested.

Note: If you would prefer not to play through the RuneScape Classic tutorial, there is a button to allow you to skip it under the 'Spanner' menu in game.

I've always been able to play Classic... Not that I've really wanted to. It's pretty horrible, lol.

Some of the PKers will like Classic.
1. Three hits before you can run away or eat.
2. You get all of what the person you kill drops.
3. The wilderness on all worlds is for PKing.

There was, a smith that changes Male Platemail to Female Platemail, and Plate Legs to Plate Skirts for free. Thrander...
I wish he would reappear back ingame, but it may mess around with the prices for the Skirts and Legs... of armor, for better or worse on certain viewpoints.

I had just missed out on playing classic when they removed it. My friends always tried to get me to try it back then, but I was relatively new to RS, so just never did and lost out. It's cool to see it. It's sooo old school! In a way it's refreshing. I'm combat level 4! w00t!! I'm glad they did this. The auto choice world was so crowded that you couldn't go through the tutorial. So if anyone wants to try it, manually pick a less populated world.

It's not even worth a subscription...(I was told by a source that the main reason it was reopened was money)

However they would be able to make a quick buck while testing the game by requiring you to be member to play it. (any former long-time members such as myself that are interested need to pay)
If they did something for free players over a certain total, like the access to the forums, I would reconsider my opinion on this subject.

its member because you will be able to play this after the two weeks. so you can play it in years to come. and bots will of course try to make spam accounts. which is a lot harder while you have to be member.

Well they could always let people who have been a member for a certain amount of time play to, I was a member for a few years but now I just don't see the benefit in paying when there is better out there.

Didn't want to skip tutorial.
Found tiny screen annoying.
Gained new respect for Ax.
I think I'll keep it open as a trophy account, and maybe do the tutorial when it's less crowded, but not a lot more than that.

RS classic re-sizable, that would help loads. Anyhow, it was OK. I already saw someone advertising a bot though. Oh yeah, the world I signed on on told me that my name was null, and every time I chatted it came up with no name.

? Anyway, my College still blocks it, but I hope everyone has fun. It won't appeal to RuneScape's typical fanboy nowadays, but it's still a fun game.

Would be nice if they made it f2p...
Truth is though, classic isn't as good as it's hyped to be. Sure it was fun at the time when I started but going back to it you see how boring it actually is. You think RS2 is grind? Play classic and be prepared to click your fingers to the bone.

Classic is boring. I played that back when I first started Runescape and after a couple of hours went to RS2 and never played Classic again. Even if I were a member I would play it.

Oh dear, oh dear.
RSC is full of noobs again! People trying to use "wave2:green:" codes. People complaining about million things on forums. People thinking that npc-s are "frozen" and reporting it as a bug when they can't talk to them while someone else is talking. People searching for special attack and run buttons. People trying to buy barrows gear and whips. People searching for their gravestones after deaths. (Free loots for meh!)

Ive always been able to play but its great to see that Jagex are letting newer players see what it is like. I never really stuck to RSC though, but its fun being able to go PKing in the wildy :) I believe Jagex are doing it too see how many people will actually play RSC if they release those RSC updates they said they might release.

Well I must say, I haven't had this much fun in ages on Runescape. An IRL friend lent me an old account so I could play classic with him and it's awesome. Perhaps I enjoy it more than everyone else because it's full of nostalgia bringing back all the fun I had when I was 13.
Anyway, I've just found everyone far nicer than RS2. Once you get past Lumby where all the noobs spam "Buying D claws", even the RS2 guys who've never played classic are nice and ask for advice and stuff and are good fun to chat to.
I even participated in something I've missed for ages: Drop Parties. A level 123 was dropping tones of rune and it was lots of fun.

It's fun and it has that retro feel. Pretty sad that they made it p2p only.
I suggest everyone who has members, make sure you have access to RSC during the 2 week window. You never know what crazy thing they will do next and it can't hurt to have access. What if it actually turns out to be profitable and they make updates and holiday drops?

I like it a lot, now I can go back to a time where grinding wasn't so easy and you actually have to work to get your stuff, as opposed to just doing something repetitive to get $$ then going to the GE to get whatever you want easy.
