Quote Competition

Hello. I am Spam. (formerly known as LegoYeti) I have decided to make a competition for all of us players while we wait in anticipation for new news about Stellar Dawn. This competition will hopefully bring some more people to the site and will be a fun scavenger hunt type thing. It will happen every few weeks and winning quotes can't be reused. Judges change every week too.

Competition: Quote Finding competition

Objective: I give you a quote theme, You roam the site looking for anything worth quoting, post it, i send it to the judges, they score on 1 to 10 basis. Then the finals wich is a poll. hope this clears things up for those of you who are confused. basically its a sort of scavenger hunt.


about: A poll will now be used.

Reward: The winner who found the quote and the maker of the quoted sentance will recieve a reward (suggestions needed) Then the runner up and the quotee will recieve a lesser reward.

Rules(if you break a rule you will be disqualified):
1. No double entrees
2. No profane languige or suggestive themes
3. Be a fair sport
4. Before quoting someone make sure the quote hasn't been entered
5. No entrees before november 14th, 2009
6. No changing your quotes or editing entry posts.
7. No quoting yourself either
8. you can't quote from Noctem or V.I.P forums e.t.c

the finals are q user poll. the preliminaries to get into the final 3 are judges. Besides, judges change weekly.

I think you are making things harder. Just let user votes. List all the entries, they pick one. If you still decide to use judges, don't change them every week, there really is no point.

Also in the rules, I don't know why we aren't allowed to quote you.
Add in that you can't quote from Noctem or V.I.P forums e.t.c

i added the no vip area rule. i guess ppl can quote me. i just have some to epic for quoting posts lol.

I have decided to keep voting the same. it would be to complicated to have 20-50 question poll for preliminaries. So i have that weekly pannel for that. The final is a poll though.

Well why do we need to change the judges every week?
What makes you think you'll get 20-50 entries?

Look at the caption competiton. They have several rounds of voting, but all user based.
The reason the SOTW failed before is because it had judges involved.

The community should decide.

You two really need to stop fighting and just go with the flow...

But really, this makes me think of the great compromise while making the US constitution. New Jersey wanted only 2 representatives from a state and Virginia (I think) wanted representatives based on population. So they compromised and now we have two houses in legislature.

I have no idea where I'm going with this, but I do know that you two should compromise. What if the community nominated judges, and a judge's vote counts for more. But, you can't nominate yourself, and you need two nominations. I don't know, just come up with something instead of fighting.

Ooh! I know! You could have secret judges. It wouldn't be secret that there were judges, but the judges themselves were secret. Then, at the end of the judging, the winner(s) get to be/choose the next judge(s). Or something like that, I don't know.

I'm starting to feel like I'm ranting.

I'm just trying to suggest things. Nominations would be very complicated and un-needed for a competition.

Also don't you think the deadline is too short?

48 hours a week doesn't seem that short to me. It starts when saturdays starts. and ends when sunday ends. Plenty of time to search the forums.
