Setting
Balovia and Laicones are at the western edge of a major continent. They border mountains to their east and an ocean to their west.
Balovia and Laicones have been at war for a long time. There hasn't been a major attack for many years but there have been small attacks on farms, villages and monasteries. The war began nearly two hundred years before when Balovia was the largest country on the side of the mountains.
All the other nations joined in and formed Laicones for their own protection, each country became a county and was ruled by a governer. The newly formed nation became a type of shared monarchy in which the governors voted for decisions that would affect the entirety of Laicones.
Laicones then went total war against Balovia and burned down many monasteries and religious places in Balovia. Balovia is a very religious nation and follows their god, Balov, to a "T".
After the constant battles the countries couldn't sustain complete war any longer. They then simmered and the war consisted of random, small attacks on non-important border towns and areas of the countries.
Eventually, Laicones attacked an extremely important monastery which angered Balov. Now, in present time, Balov is flooding the area west of the mountains. The only high ground is the mountains to the east which are filled with Dwarves and a clan of Ogres. Laicones is extremely racist and supremist in the human way of life and Balovia is more friendly to the other races.
Now both nations are heavily considering moving east into the mountains to find refuge and a new way of life while they leave their old countryside behind.
This is an awakening.

This is a rough map of what the area looks like. Feel free to add in your own imagination with landmarks and whatnot.
Rules
(Note:These rules are and will be subject to change if the posters wish)
[*] Decent spelling and grammar should be observed in all IC posts. That doesn't mean perfect, but it means no l33t-speak and an understanding of punctuation. OOC posts are less strict, but still need to be understandable.
[*]Keep posts literate, try to manage at least two paragraphs per in-character post.
[*]One character per person per game. NPCs can be created of course, ie bartenders, shopkeepers etc. but you can only have one main party character.
[*]When making a character or characters please avoid cliches if you can, unless you honestly want your character(s) to be like that. Do your best to balance your characters with weaknesses that level out your strengths.
(An invincible demon lord who can fire lasers from his eyes is not a good example for a character.)
[*]You might have to lose. Deal with it. Dying is usually avoidable but if you get into a fight one of you should probably end up injured in some way.
[*]No character control, including involuntary killing, wounding or any situation the author wouldn't be able to get out of. If you're fighting, end your post just before the attack hits and they should be able to avoid it with minimal retconning.
[*] No putting down another person's ideas, if you don't like the idea give the person constructive criticism via PM. If it's not worth it to you, don't make yourself look like a jerk on the thread.
[*]When creating a character please consider the following:
a. Your character's personality and history.
b. What your character's skills are.
c. How to keep your character consistent (ie weaknesses towards women).
d. A physical description.
[*]If you are going to make an extreme story-changing post wait thirty minutes before you post another story-changing post again. This way people can keep up better.
[*]The most important thing to remember is that this is a game. Enjoy it.

Episodes
I will break down the story into summaries called "Episodes". This way you can look back and get the gist of what has happened in what chapter. Plus, if you are a newcomer, you can easily understand what is going on.
Episode One: Charles leaves his home to migrate east towards the mountains, through his passing he finds an odd man named Kyo from another world althogether. A place called "Tyria". Kyo is caught and almost killed at the stake for looking like a vampire.
Lance and Flysh are also introduced when they meet up in a collision. Flysh runs off into the distance, abandoning Lance.
Lance moves on ahead into a small forest and is surprised to find flysh once again. They then decide to form a group and travel together.
They find Charles picking plants and Charles runs away, not noticing the pair. They think he's up to no good.
Flysh spontaneously made way to town center where Kyo is being executed. Flysh cast a spell to put them to sleep and a hooded stranger grabbed them and teleported them away.
Tordrun teleports on top of Lance (What luck for him). The two move off towards the mountains.
Kyo watches them but is caught when he makes noise. The ragtag group goes together and discovers a group of bandits harassing a woman.
Charles spots Xela and chases him down in search of Mountain Springwater. Xela turns out to be hostile towards humans and storms out of Arthur's (Charles' carpenter friend) house.
The three fight the bandits and a strange plant named Killrrhubarb enters the battle. The group succeeds and make camp for the night with an injured woman and newly found chainsaw. Charles and Arthur wander into the camp and stay the night with them.
Episode 2: The group, minus Xela, climbs into the mountains but are stopped by a stranger. He leads them off into a cave with the help of Kyo's speed spell, but Arthur falls out of range and collapses in his old-aged weakness. Charles returns but Arthur tells him to move on, handing him a secret formula to create powerful healing potions out of common ingredients.
The party enters the cave and moves through the tunnel, ending up in the mountains. Charles is grabbed up but quickly saved by the party only to be grabbed up again. The captors were escaping an oncoming avalanche that quickly toppled Lance and Tordrun as Kyo and Lorachu escaped.
Charles wakes up in an ogre prison and is carried off to be fed to a beast. Charles talks his way into befriending the monstrous ogre, Grunth, and the two escape from the city together.
Lance wakes up in the snow and wanders towards a strange tower.
Kyo and Lorachu enter the tower and the gates seal shut behind them. They run around and try to uncover the purpose of a giant mechanism at the towers top and find a strange prophecy.
Charles and Grunth meet Lance at the tower's entrance and Kyo and Lorachu open the gates, relieved to see their friends again.
As the party is reunited and Grunth is introduced a pack of Balov Hounds, servants of Balov, wander in and attack the party. After discovering that the hounds had the ability to bring eachother back to life they made a plan to destroy them all at once and succeeded.
The party rested for the night as Killrrhubarb enclosed on the tower, waiting for the party to finish resting.
Episode 3: In the night A Balov Warrior sneaks into the tower and places a piece of Balovian Metal, a magical metal that will lose it's magic if claimed by a mortal, into Kyo's head. The magic retains its power because Kyo is from another dimension, leaving him to be the perfect candidate.
A strange dwarf named Xavier arrives in the morning and awakens the party, dragging them through the snow towards the Dwarven City.
Within the Dwarven City miners have been finding strange artifacts made of an odd metal that they have never seen before. Xavier had sent out to find Balovians who may be able to link the metal with their religion and history.
Killrrhubarb and Tordrun catch up with Charles and Grunth in a tavern within the Dwarven City as they wait for everyone to meet up in the center of town to reconnect with Xavier.
Lance reunites with two surviving friends and Kyo topples a mafia to save a pair of women.
Once they meet back up in the center of town they are led by Xavier and Dorkur, two antique collectors, down into the earth to see the artifacts. Grunth and Killrrhubarb are left behind.
Once they find the correct room Kyo touches the artifacts causing the piece of metal stashed in his head to fly out and re-enchant the newly found artifacts.
Xavier goes crazy as it turns out this was a conspiracy to break a seal which prevented Balov from entering the city. As Xavier gives up his own life to be reborn as an immortal being known as The Guardian the seal breaks and Balov Hounds flood the city, causing destruction.
The spider crashes through a wall and plows up into the city from the mines. The Guardian wreaks havoc on the city and crawls off into the distance.
Jalos leaves his castle and meets his old acquaintance Delpherion, a dragon, and flies above an ocean which is home to the Sitnaltans. Jalos hides in a cart to find a sneaky way into the underwater city.
Xela meets up with a thief named Daris after he loots Maldar for its abandoned wealth. They make their way into the mountains when they are stopped by bandits.
Episode 4: Kyo leads a group of evacuees from the Dwarven city and meets up with Kagura, a friend from Kyo's world. They return to the tower and are blessed by Kyo's gods, allowing them to live peacefully for the time being.
Charles and Dorkur awake under the rubble of the fallen city and move away from the city. They find the corpses of the citizens of Maldar and decide to head for the tower, where Kyo would likely be.
Xela and Daris fight off the bandits and make their way towards a tower in the distance.
Jalos distracts the sitnaltins as he sneaks upstairs in a holy place only to find an angry priest, ready to strike.
Charles and Dorkur meet Kyo and the survivors and have a standoff. Charles tries to convince the people that Kyo has been a traitor all along but the argument fizzles out.
Charles and Grunth decide they are to go south, towards the desert for the first artifact that will destroy what Kyo has helped Xavier create.
Xela and Daris meet up with Kyo and the rest and Xela and Killrrhubarb take quick interest in eachother.
Lance and his two friends travel towards the tower and come very close before they have to rest in a nearby cave, waiting for rescue.

QUOTE
Charles Carthel (ProMetaAnaTelo)
A young son of a Laioconesian farmer. The farm was raized in a Bailovian raid and his family moved deeper into the country of Laicones. Charles became the assistant of a cattle rancher but when thieves came and robbed a large amount of cattle from the ranch he grew sick of the society of Laicones.
He moved north into Balovia and was turned down in nearly every place of work and shelter because of his Laiconesian name.
He created a new identity for himself and took up residence in a monastery to the god Balov. The monks there took him in gladly and began to teach him the ways of religion, gardening and alchemy.
A Laiconesian prisoner escaped to the monastery where the monks allowed him residence many years later. Charles, now in his twenties, began to listen to the atheistic prisoner and decided to take a new path with his life.
Charles moved out of the monastery and built a home on the outskirts of a major city in Balovia. He began work as an alchemist and made home visits to the sick with medicines and potions to help cure them.
Charles is now in his thirties and sports medium-length, brown hair. He has a full beard and a pair of cheap glasses. He's average height but lanky and lacks proper body muscle.
His main strength is his knowledge of alchemy and the way he can mix substances to create medicines, poisons and other types of liquids. He also is very intelligent at problem-solving.
Charles is too physically frail for combat, however. He usually can find ways to avoid dodgy situations and dangerous people.
Charles is a strong Balovian, but does not worship the god Balov. Instead he keeps out of the affairs of religion.
Wears a brown overcoat with a hood. When traveling he carries a large backpack and pouches that contain alchemical equipment.

Name: Xela (Xela)
Age: 14
Race: Avian
Gender: Male
Appearance: Skinny and sinewy, this guy lives in the mountains like the others of his race. They're all tall and light, with white hair (I say hair, but feathers). And, of course, the big 'ol wings on his back really help with that flying lark.
Weapons: A golden-coloured trident. It can be used as a handheld weapon and can also be used to cast electrical spells.
Powers: He can fly, which is the main thing to be honest. He also has really good eyes and can see for miles.
Alignment: In the mountains
Personality: A bit of a recluse, and a generally isolated person. He will trust those he trusts, but he won't be your mate for no reason.
Short History: He lives in the mountains, and has done for all his life in the typical fashion of his people. They live alone usually and hunt for food, trading in the markets of other cultures for whatever they need, and meeting up in the summer in flocks.
Other: I'll be dropping in in just a moment

Name: Lance (Gandaf007)
Age: 21
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Appearance: He stands at 6'3. Has decent enough muscles and can defend himself well enough in a fight. He's a bit skinny, has fair skin, long blonde hair and has a bit of a round countenance. Lance wears tan robes and brown, worn boots that reach half way up his shins.
Weapons: He conceals a dagger underneath his right sleeve, and has two dozen, small throwing knives in a pack he attaches to his waist, which hides underneath his robe (basically a fanny pack). The pack also carries several healing potions and herbs.
Powers: Has the ability to essentially blend in to his environment for a short period of time (usually 5-10 minutes, not completely invisible but for the most part) and has an uncanny ability to be very accurate with his throwing knives.
Alignment: Balvoian, (not sure if moral alignment is needed or wanted, but I feel the need to say it anyways) he is, for the most part, Chaotic Good.
Personality: Very quiet and laid back. Will usually listen to others without a word, but he'll speak when he feels needed. His tone when talking is soft, but powerful. Observes the world around him with a sad look on his face, although a bit of hope shines in his eyes.
Short History: Lance grew up in a middle-class family in the urban area (I'll let others make up the names for cities, I'm no too good at coming up with them myself) of Balovia. He received a decent enough education at a nearby school, and was always an average student. At the age of fifteen, he became bored with his painstakingly average life. He decided to run away and take to the streets, in search for excitement. He had received a good enough education, so he was a lot clever than the usual street urchin. He stole food and drink from stalls and shops, during these times he gained the ability to blend in with his surroundings to avoid capture. When he turned eighteen, he looked back on the past three years and became disappointed with what he had done, and began to rejoin the majority of society. He turned over a new leaf, and decided to help spread good across the land although at times his methods of upholding justice and general good can be a bit unorthodox.
Other: Wants Laicones to be part of Balovia, very badly, and he'd go to extreme lengths to try and help his beloved country win the war.

Name: Killrrhubarb
Age: Seventeen in plant years, only Five years old in human.
Race: Living Plant
Gender: Male
Appearance: A reddish color as most of his body, with two club-like fists, long green roots as legs, and long green strong leaves as a sort of hair.
Weapons: None, other than his club-like fists and the noxious odor he can produce.
Powers: Can harvest the power of the sun to make him grow much bigger and stronger momentarily.
Alignment:Believes in the great god Solara, which means that he is not evil, but would harm others if harm is going to com upon him.
Personality: Confident and very headstrong. Believes he is the strongest plant alive, which is most probably correct at the moment. Most of his friends died when the bandits raded his hometown, and wants to avenge their losses.
Short History: Killrrhubarb was born in the great land of Greenleaves, in the city of Sunhold, just east of the Swolo mountains. As his city was situated next to a bandit camp, he learnt the power of walking, which many of the other living plants did not have the power to do. When the bandits realized how advanced the living plants were, they raided the camp and killed all the non-moving plants, and if Killrrhubarb and the few other walking plants did not escape to the mountains, they would have met the same fate. Killrrhubarb wanted to rush down and kill the bandits with the remaining plants but once inside the mountains, the other plants were too scared and left Killrrhubarb on his own, watching the bandits and following their tracks. He followed them all the way to Balovia, where he saw the bandits go into the large city known as Maldar. There he realized that to be able to avenge his family, he needed help from other sources...
Other: Not very wise, as he is not very old. He sometimes rushes into situations without realizes what harm could come to him, but because of his strength he manages to get out of them somehow.

Name: Jalos, Self Proclaimed Lord of the Dead, God of the New World, Master of Darkness etc.
Age: Alive since time immemorable
Race: Vampeel. A creation of the union between a Vampire and a mortal Elven maiden.
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Though his face has never been seen, his skin is a ghostly pale white. His long matted brown hair is kept within his helmet, presumably growing longer and longer, though no one will ever know. He posesses the eye of a corrupt Elven Mystic, a trait carried down his family line and made whole in his unholy birth. This eye posesses a mind of it's own; It works in a symbiotic relationship with Jalos, extending his dark powers, though the eye has an agenda of it's own.
Weapons: A vast array of weapons are at his disposal, though none is more favoured than his sword, Illith the Blood Drinker.
Powers: Extensive control over all things dead. The mixture of Elven and Vampiric blood provides him with extreme strength and magical proficiancy, enabling him to ensnare weak humans with his mind and cast the most powerful of spells. His Mystic Eye is able to scry remotely and view people around the world of Balovia and Laicones. Weak farsight abilites enable the eye to see cloudy images of the future. Despite the power of this Eye, it's own will does not always agree with Jalos' desires. The Eye only reveals it's power to Jalos when it believes it will benefit.
Alignment: Pure EVIL. Hatred of everything living and despised by everyone. He cares little for the conflict of the two major regions and considers himself the next heir, conquering both this world and all others that dare to rear their head.
Personality: Insane. The immortality of a Vampire has warped him. Society hated him from his birth and as a result he hates their pitiful lives. He is indifferent to the suffering of others, considering it revenge for the eternity of pain generations of mankind have heaped on him. Overall bitter though insanely wise and knowledgeable.
Short History: His mother, an Elven Maiden from the Living Forests was abducted eons ago by the Vampiric Lord Macbeth. She was raped for his pleasure though she escaped weeks later before he could drain her of blood once he was bored of her. She gave birth to Jalos, the Vampeel. She hid him for his own safety as Vampires, let alone Vampeels, were detested in her home land. She reared the child in solitude, leaving him to fend for himself for long periods of time while she went about her business in the Elven Capital to avoid suspision. He later learned of the nature of his true Father. He hated his Father for the pain he caused his mother and hated the curse of Vampirism that had now been passed to him.
He was chased from the Elven Capital when he was 15 and his mother was tortured and burnt at the stake for rearing such a creature. In despair he left the forest, finally seeking refuge in the home of a Necromancer. Jalos' power began to exceed the Necromancer's and out of fear, the Necromancer attempted to kill Jalos. Jalos beheaded the man with ease. He grew in knowledge of all that was arcane and evil. He later returned to the Elven capital and slaughtered the whole city, ressurecting the corpses of his Mother's torturers and forcing them to slay their comrades and tear themselves apart.
He was subsequently hunted for his genocide, but he found refuge in the far Northern Mountains. There he resides in his Palace, SilverMaw, gaining in power as he reads the forbidden ancient tomes of Magiks. He is ready to conquer.
Other: Though Jalos is seemingly a Godlike figure, he does have weaknesses. His major weakness thanks to his Vampiric Father, is Sun Sickness. He is unable to stay in the sun for extended periods of time, even under his armour. If he did, he would burn and die like all Vampires. Due to his Elven nature however, he is able to roam for a short time before experiencing such effects.

Malice

I apologize for the low quality of the picture as I don't have a scanner to scan pictures.
Malice is also known as the Balov Warrior. He's seemingly invincible as Balov encases his entire body, rendering his body completely protected.
Malice has lived for hundreds of years after being sealed away inside a shrine to his love during his mortal lifetime. Malice seeks to perfect his necromancy to the point where he can bring his lover's soul back from the dead and restore it to her body after accidentally killing her in one of his experiments during his mortal lifetime.
Malice helped set up the destruction of the Dwarven City with the assistance of the dwarf Xavier. Malice now leaves Xavier to attend to their continent of Balov as he seeks for the pure essences of the Great Magics that sealed him in the shrine and would ultimately lead to his downfall.

Combat
Combat has been completely redone and now is in a literary style instead of a game-like style. Sorry if you aren't happy, but the majority ruled in favor.
Remember
Keep your posts detailed and story-like. Don't make your posts a series of actions. Give your character some personality that shines through their actions, please.
PoultryChamp has so kindly allowed us to put this in the Literature section where, as of now, post count will go up with each post.
